Yesterday we played our first game in our new Paisley Johnstone & District League against St Peter’s.

It was a great, closely fought game against a very good St Peter’s side and gave the boys a real indication of what to expect in this league, with some excellent teams to come up against. 👏

St Peter’s took the lead in the first half and continued to put pressure on throughout the game. At half-time, the boys knew they had to be stronger on the ball, show more confidence and be more positive going forward.

Then, on 59 minutes, we got our reward! An excellent strike from Callen found the back of the net to bring us level — what a finish! ⚽️🔥

The boys continued to work hard, defend as a team and battle right until the final whistle, with the game finishing 1-1.

A point from our first game in a new league is a fantastic achievement. This was a real test of what we can expect going forward, and the boys can be proud of their performance.

🏆 Player of the Match: #9 Millar Salmon

Millar was excellent throughout the game. His pressing, work rate and control in midfield were brilliant and he played a huge part in the team’s performance.

The wait is over… we’re kicking off the new season today! 🙌

Our 2013 boys get their season underway with a home game against St Peter’s as they begin a new challenge in the Paisley Johnstone & District YFL Division 1. 🏆

A new league, new challenges and plenty of great teams to test ourselves against — we’re really looking forward to seeing what this season brings! 💪⚽️

COME ON AWR 2013! 🔴⚫️🔥

Today we headed back up for Day 2 of the Glasgow City Cup International Youth Football Tournament Cup, after finishing top of our group yesterday. This afternoon it was time for our semi-final against a very good Turriff FC side.

The game finished 1-1, meaning it went to penalties… and the boys held their nerve to come out on top and book their place in the final ! 👏👏

Waiting for us in the final was Westdyke, and unfortunately today just wasn’t our day. We lost out to a very good Westdyke side, meaning we finish the competition as runners-up and bring home another piece of silverware. 🥈

Looking back over all our pre-season tournaments, the boys have been absolutely outstanding. Every tournament they have entered, they have reached a final — and they have now brought home THREE pieces of silverware! 🏆🏆🏆

A massive well done to each and every one of our players, our coaches and our brilliant travelling support.

It has been a fantastic weekend and we couldn’t be prouder of the boys. They battled through, gave everything they had and represented AWR brilliantly from start to finish. 👏

A huge thank you to everyone at the Glasgow Cup for organising another fantastic, well-run tournament.

And finally, congratulations to Westdyke on their victory today. A very good side and worthy winners. 👏🏆

This afternoon the boys headed to the Glasgow City Cup International Youth Football Tournament and what a first day they had! 🔴⚫️

The boys had 3 tough games, battling hard in every match and finishing the day unbeaten! 🔥

A fantastic first day from the whole squad. The boys showed great character, determination and teamwork throughout all three games. 👏

We know we’re going to have another tough day tomorrow, with excellent teams in the competition. But that’s exactly what these boys love — testing themselves against the best and giving everything they’ve got! 💪🔥

Over the last two days, we competed in the Ayr International Youth Football Festival Land O’ Burns Tournament and came away as Champions, securing our second piece of silverware this pre-season! 🏅

Every single player was outstanding across both days. The commitment, teamwork, determination and quality they showed from the first whistle to the last was exceptional, and we’re incredibly proud of every one of them.
