Slightly Missed the airfield… well no worries all part of the learning process and thank goodness for the amazingly helpful team that selflessly came out to rescue Patrick from his first out-landing today! After encountering the feared blue skies and sink route back home from a task. Patrick says his glider will be inspected sooner or later once he re-rigs so we wish him the best for that 🤞

Pizza time! Big thanks to James and his wife for bringing along their pizza kit to provide a lovely dinner to celebrate an amazing day of tasking and fun in the sun and to raise money for the Air Ambulance! And an additional well done to all pilots who managed to hold their own against the sea breeze fronts today.
Mmmmmmnn
James preparing his world class pizzas in the golden hours
A lovely sunset with the trailers to end the day
It is scientifically proven that nothing can top this.

Big Congratulations to for doing his first solo today! Being sent solo by our amazing course instructor Pete. Aside from a great achievement today was a great day to fly at KGC with multiple K21 winch launches and a few single seater launches aswell. With one of the K21 even managing 1 hour of the winch!
If you want to experience the same thrill that Fletcher and all the others flying today had, then give our website a visit (link in bio) and explore your options for an experience flight at Kent Gliding Club!

One of the great things about being a member of Kent Gliding Club is the opportunity to enjoy flying at different sites with fellow club members. Our annual expedition to Edgehill Gliding Centre is always a highlight of the year — and this year was no exception.
We had a fantastic few days of flying, plenty of fun and, perhaps most importantly, lots of time to enjoy each other’s company. We were also given a very warm welcome by our hosts at Edge Hill, who once again made us feel very much at home and provided excellent briefings and support.
There were some fantastic achievements along the way too:
🏆 Matt Waters – Diamond Distance (500 km)
🏆 Martin Hardy – Diamond Distance (500 km)
🏆 Andy Moore – Gold Distance & Diamond Goal (300 km triangle)
🏆 Andy Pickrell – Silver Duration (5 hours), Silver Height (1,000 m height gain) & Silver Distance (50 km)
🏆 David Ringleman – Silver Height (1,000 m height gain)
🏆 Phil McCarthy – Silver Height (1,000 m height gain)
A brilliant set of achievements, particularly with several members completing parts of their FAI Silver and Diamond badges.
But expeditions aren't just about the flying and the badges. They're about sharing the experience, learning from each other, enjoying some great flying and having a lot of fun along the way.
A huge thank you to everyone at Edgehill Gliding Centre for making us so welcome once again.
Great flying, great company and a great club expedition. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🛩️

Indeed you can! It could be the first step towards flying an A380 across the world, enjoying the freedom of flying a light aircraft, or keeping it pure and perfecting your cross-country skills in a glider. Whatever your aviation ambitions, many pilots discover that it all starts with gliding.
Gliding is one of the most affordable, exciting and rewarding ways to learn to fly. Better still, it’s right on your doorstep at Kent Gliding Club, near Ashford.
Book a trial lesson today and see where gliding could take you.

Hmmm, should I stay home all weekend staring at my phone, or head to Kent Gliding Centre and learn to surf the skies with KGC’s amazing instructors?!

Kent Gliding Club always brings the glam! KGC celebrates its 70th birthday this weekend (with roots going back around 100 years). We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these early pioneers:
1. Margaret Crabtree
2. Hugh Gardiner (the driving force behind the club’s foundation)
3. Miss Jones - first female solo at the club
4. Steve Green (P1) and ‘George’ Ballast (who weighed 8st)
I hope they would be proud of what the club has become over the past seven decades.
Come and find out for yourself! www.kent-gliding-club.co.uk
Right, I’m off to dig out a suitable jacket and tie for my next flight.
