Help us find our next Sailing Principal!

Queen Mary Sailing Club is recruiting an Assistant Manager and Sailing Principal, and applications close Monday 5 October 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage and lead our RYA Training Centre and all on-the-water activity at one of the UK's leading sailing clubs, including Club Racing and Open Meetings, General Sailing, Windsurfing, Wing-foiling, Paddle-sports and our growing RS21 Keelboat programme.

We're looking for someone who:
✅ Is an inspiring leader with strong communication and presentation skills
✅ Has at least three years' experience as a Principal or Chief Instructor
✅ Has dinghy racing experience and has provided safety cover for dinghy races
✅ Brings strong admin and IT skills and a keen eye for detail
✅ Is ready to take on greater responsibility and challenge

Join us on 10th October for a fun and welcoming Open Day designed to introduce visitors to the excitement of windsurfing and wingfoiling at Queen Mary sailing Club. Throughout the day, guests can enjoy taster sessions on the water, watch club activities in action and learn more about the wide range of opportunities available.

The day will also mark the official launch of our new Women's Foil & Fin Group, an exciting initiative aimed at bringing together women interested in developing their foiling and fin sailing skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. Meet the women behind the initiative, hear about future sessions and find out how the group will help build confidence, skills and participation on the water.

Whether you're trying it for the first time or looking for a new challenge, there's something for everyone to enjoy. After eight fantastic years as part of the Queen Mary Sailing Club team, we’re sorry to announce that Ross Malloy has decided to move on from his role as Sailing Principal.

Ross has been a huge part of the Club over the years, including the past five years in his role as Assistant Manager and Sailing Principal. During that time, he has made a tremendous contribution to the Club and has played a key role in shaping many aspects of our day-to-day operation.

From the running of the wet team and developing our operational processes, to safety, training and the many things that happen behind the scenes to keep the Club running smoothly, Ross has brought energy, knowledge and commitment to everything he has been involved in.

One of his particularly significant achievements has been his work in developing RS21 keelboat sailing at Queen Mary. Ross was instrumental in establishing the operational foundations for the programme we have today, helping to create this exciting new area of sailing.

He will be leaving soon with our best wishes as he takes on an exciting new challenge as an Operations Officer for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

Ross’s last working day will be Friday 4 December, so there’s still time to see him at the Club, wish him well and thank him for everything he has done over the years.

Following Micky Beckett’s exclusive adult ILCA coaching session on Saturday, we’re delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for the next generation of sailors to learn from an Olympian..

On Sunday 1st November, Micky will be back at Queen Mary Sailing Club for dedicated youth coaching sessions for sailors under 18 in both the Topper and ILCA classes.

The Topper session will run from 09:30 to 12:30, followed by the ILCA session from 13:30 to 16:30. Fresh from the 2026 ILCA 7 World Championships, where he claimed the Bronze Medal, Micky brings world-class expertise, race-winning strategies and invaluable experience to the water.
