What is going on with the world?! This country is in self destruct it seems. A terrible thing for any business when a government has decided to fund immigration and wars instead of defending and supporting the nation. Where did the ’great’ in Great Britain go to?! So much doesn’t make sense, surely thriving business is what makes a country wealthy and strong? Why aren’t we all sticking together and forcing these unelected idiocrats out of powerful positions?!

WE need a country run by real hands on business men to make real decisions , to punish the fat cat private company bosses who think bonuses are better than infrastructure, and someone who won’t take oil tycoons rubbish excuses every time a little bit of Saudi has a fire! Let’s not even mention most of our oil comes from Norway anyway !!!

With deepest regret, needless to say that as of 1st October there will be significant price increases to our services. We will also be removing services from areas that are no longer viable enough to offer to.

An Increase in prices is something I’ve put off for far longer than I should have. So it will be significant to get us back to operational level. The prices will also increase every year with inflation from now on as a standard business practice.

Why now?!

I’ve used my heart over my head for too long, worrying about losing clients because of price hikes. However I’m now in a position where I have two choices either increase prices or close the business, quite frankly over the last 8 years I’ve invested every penny back into the business and I’m not prepared to let that go, I’ve got to continue.

So there we go, run a business they said, it’ll be fun ! They said!

If I could do it for free I’d have done it and still have all my hair!

Running a business is one of the most rewarding journeys and while it comes with challenges, it also brings growth, clarity, and purpose.

Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of integrity, communication, and follow-through in our industry. Not every partnership unfolds as expected, and not every commitment runs smoothly but every experience reinforces why strong standards and clear values matter so much.

Behind the scenes, I’ve put everything into building a service that is fast, dependable, and genuinely bio-secure.

The level I’m striving for requires continuous investment, strict protocols, and real dedication. It’s not always the easiest route, but it’s the one that protects farms, livestock, and reputations; and that’s what counts.

Creating and sustaining that standard of service relies on mutual trust and loyalty.

When clients and collectors work together with shared commitment, it allows us to deliver the rapid, secure response that farms deserve.

With lambing and calving season here, it’s a timely reminder of how important those standards are. This is a high-pressure time of year, where biosecurity and reliability truly matter.

Choosing a genuine, independent collector who prioritises safety, professionalism, and accountability can make all the difference.

While cheaper options may exist, investing in a quality service helps safeguard your livestock and your business long term.

I’m incredibly proud of the systems we’re building and the direction we’re heading. We’ll continue raising the bar, strengthening relationships, and working with those who value high standards and long-term collaboration.

I’m Grateful for the lessons and excited for the season ahead.

2025 has certainly whizzed past !

Once again it’s now that time of year to appreciate the past twelve months of hard work and long hours.

SCOPS investigates new tools to help determine worm species on sheep farms

Working with partners Biobest and Queens University Belfast, the Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS) group is exploring a method that could provide farmers and their vets and advisers with valuable information on the worm species present in dung samples.

Once again, it’s Christmasssss! ! !

Wow! 2023 has been a very quick year, it only feels a week ago I was writing a Christmas post for 2022. What a whirlwind of a year, it’s gone so fast.

As we wind down for the festive season and spend time reflecting on the last twelve months, its been tough to stay positive! fuel prices have fluctuated massively as the year progressed, as well as a drop in tallow prices that sent waste bills soaring up certainly doesn’t make it easy. The collections are getting further apart as many farms simply cannot continue to operate at such high production costs, which also makes route planning an impossible task, as well as the stupid number of collection services available to you has made it a “who can do it cheapest” market, in kent.

I will always maintain the position that being the best, rather than the cheapest, is a far better way of doing the job. When I think of how much I’ve spent on disinfectant alone this year it boggles the mind !

Anyway enough of the reflecting, and more of the thanking!

To each and every one of you, a single customer to a twice weekly collection, the companies that support us and work alongside us, I want to thank you from the depths of my heart, a massive thank you for using KFS!
