Back from the dog walk, muddy boots by the door, and a moment to check in before the day takes over.

Self-care after loss can be small. A glass of water, fresh air, five slow breaths, one kind word to yourself.

On the third Monday of each month at 10am, we gather for a 30-minute Self-Care Check-In inside the Be Worthy: Beyond Fine membership, with a Sunday check-in post waiting for you every week too.

There's a moment in coaching I never get tired of. Someone says out loud the thing they've been carrying on their own, and you can see their shoulders drop.
In a group, something else happens too. Everyone listening recognises a piece of themselves. One person gets coached, and the whole room shifts.
That's the heart of the monthly Group Coaching Call inside the Be Worthy: Beyond Fine membership. An hour, live, where you can bring a challenge, a decision, a question, a feeling you can't quite name. I coach live, hot seat style, and you're welcome to take the seat or simply listen.

It's the one session I never record. What's shared in the call stays in the call.
Our first call is on Thursday 29th October at 3pm.

If you had an hour to be coached, what would you bring? 🤍

The house is quiet, and the question that arrives out of nowhere. Who am I now?

After loss, life gets rebuilt piece by piece, choice by choice. It helps to have people beside you asking the same question.

Tonight, write down one small thing that felt like you this week. A song, a colour, a walk, a laugh.

On the last Thursday of each month at 11am, we meet for a live group coaching call inside the Be Worthy: Beyond Fine membership. It's kept just for us, unrecorded, so you can speak freely.

Reaching out for support can be really hard. It can feel uncomfortable. It can feel like being a burden. There are so many emotions tied up in asking for help, because it’s something a lot of us were never taught to do.

Many of us learnt to just get on with it. To manage on our own. Maybe we learnt that other people can’t always be trusted.

So where do we start?

Practise on yourself first.

Ask yourself: what do I need today? What can I do to make today a little bit easier? What can I do that will lighten my to-do list?

Then do it, and notice how it feels to help yourself. Literally. It might feel silly. It might actually feel quite good. Either way, you’re building something.

Keep it simple, something you know you’ll follow through on. Run yourself a bath. Walk to the shops and get yourself some good, nourishing food. Write in your journal. Go to bed a little earlier.

Because so many of us have a lack of self-trust and don’t even realise it. We say we’ll go to bed early, and then we don’t. We say tomorrow we’ll eat well, and then we don’t. We say we’ll go to the gym, and then we don’t. Each time, we’re quietly teaching ourselves that our word to ourselves doesn’t count.

And if we can’t trust ourselves, it’s so much harder to trust others.

So commit to yourself. Help yourself with the smallest thing you know you can do, and do it.

What’s one small thing you could do for yourself today? 🤍

When someone we love dies, a part of us goes with them.

We form deep attachments to the people we love. A partner, a parent, a friend, they can be our safe place, the person we confide in, our steadiness. So when they die, a part of our safety goes with them too.

Our body notices. It moves into survival mode, alert, braced, ready. And when it stays there for a long time, it can affect our sleep, our immune system, inflammation, our energy, our mind.

This is why the simple tools matter so much. Breathing, grounding, moving, resting. They gently tell the body it is safe enough to soften again.

I’ll be sharing some of my favourites, with a little bit about why they help.

"How are you?"
"Fine, thanks."

We say it at the school gate, in the supermarket queue, at work. I said it for years. Sometimes it was even true.

But fine is a holding pattern. It's getting through the week, keeping everyone else going, making sure nothing falls apart. Fine gets you through. It was never meant to be where you live.

Somewhere along the way I realised I wanted more than fine. I wanted to feel excited about something again. To laugh without checking myself. To know who I am now, not just who I used to be.

That's what the Be Worthy: Beyond Fine membership is for. It's life coaching for women who have been through loss or big change and are ready for the next chapter to be one they choose. Every week there's something new to work with, across mind, body, soul and life, and every month we meet live to learn, release, check in and be coached.

You want to move beyond fine, into living.
What would more than fine look like for you? 🤍

Breathe in for four. Breathe out for six.

That’s it. That’s the whole tool.
(Try in for 2 and out for 4 if you need shorter breathing times.)

When the out breath is longer than the in breath, it sends a message to your nervous system that you are safe. Your heart rate begins to slow, your shoulders drop, your mind gets a little quieter.

In grief our body can spend so much time braced for the next thing. A few slow breaths with a longer exhale is one of the quickest ways to bring it back down.

Try five rounds now, while you read this.
How did that feel?

"But no one’s died."
I've heard that sentence so many times. Usually whispered, almost apologetic, from someone who is clearly hurting but doesn't feel they have the right to call it grief.

Grief is the natural response to loss of any kind. Not just death. The Grief Recovery Method recognises more than 40 life events that can cause grief, including divorce, miscarriage, infertility, estrangement, redundancy, moving home, losing a pet, a friendship ending, a diagnosis, the children leaving home, and the future you thought you'd have.

And here's the part that matters most. Grief isn't a competition. Your loss doesn't have to be the biggest in the room to deserve care. When we compare, we minimise, and when we minimise, we stay stuck.
All loss counts. Yours counts.

On Thursday 8th October at 11am, inside the Be Worthy: Beyond Fine membership, I'm running a live grief education session on the types of loss and why they all count. It's recorded, so if you can't make it live, it'll be waiting for you in the library.

What's a loss you've carried that you didn't feel allowed to grieve? 🤍

New to journaling and not sure where to start? 🕯️

Try this. Grab an old birthday candle, pop it in a holder, light it, and write until it burns out.

It gives you a little time frame, a bit of focus, and makes it feel more like a moment than a task. When the candle's done, so are you.

Inside my membership, we use journaling as a life coaching tool every month. If you'd like to support yourself in a really intentional way in your life after loss, come and join us. Message me for the details. 🤍

Who have you learnt to be in survival mode?

The one who says “I’m fine” before anyone’s finished asking.
The one with the list, the plan, the backup plan.
The one who holds it together at the school gate, in the supermarket, on the phone to the bank.
The one who’s always making herself and her emotions smaller to fit in.
The one who’s always trying to make sure everyone else is ok.

After Chris died, I became so good at coping. Capable, organised, strong. People told me how well I was doing. I didn’t believe them, because I knew inside I wasn’t. But doing well felt safer than feeling, and that version of me got us through.

She deserves a thank you. She kept the lights on and the lunchboxes packed and she kept going when going was all there was.

And there comes a moment when your body whispers, you can put some of this down now.

Survival mode is your nervous system’s way of loving you. It learnt what was needed, and it did it beautifully. Healing is the gentle work of showing it that you’re safe enough to soften. To rest, to receive, to let someone else carry the bags for a while.

So I’m curious.

Which one of these are you and are you feeling your body saying it is ready to stop carrying all the bags alone now? 🤍
