Now that’s a wrap.
Thanet Squash Club Championship 2026.
50 odd matches and over £1k raised for charity.

Thanks to all the people that played and those that helped organise the event.

Our Club Champion for 2026 Robert (Bobby) Couzens.

Bobby, the younger and better looking squash playing brother had a good run to the final, beating his father in the quarters and the ever present Mark Neil in the semi to set up a show down with Caspar. Who himself had to play the older wood butcher, Couzen lad, his Blue Anchor boss in the quarters and a one legged James Dyer in the semi. The final was excellent but Bobby, with his gorgeous good looks and flowing main of hair, tied down with mystic megs bandanna was too strong for Caspar. Bobby came out the final winning 3/2, 9/11 in the last game.

A brilliant concept where depending on what round players were knocked out it, they went into a graded plate, saw some excellent matches, with all finals going to 3/2. The A Plate had a twenty difference, the B Plate thirty years and unbelievably the oldest and the youngest players met in the C Plate final with a sixty year age difference.

It’s a Big Saturday at Thanet Squash Club.
Someone had the bright idea that if you get knocked out in various rounds you go into a plate Tournament.. Starts at 1pm today with some great matches, BBQ and a raffle with fantastic prizes (all for charity)

It’s nearly upon us, Thanet Squash Club Closed Tournament.
Starts 6pm Thursday 10th and Runs Friday (no Juniors or adults this week) and Saturday, with the final aiming to be around 5pm.

Think the draw is still being calculated but there should be some great matches.
Please come and support your club, BBQ, Raffle and final on Saturday.

It was fantastic to see so many people playing in the TW Canterbury squash Open.

Several of Thanet’s finest, left the sunny beaches for a very hot squash club but they didn’t disappoint .

We had our very own squash princess, Zymante “Jam” Gintalaite runner up in the E grade plate.

Michael the Couchman, over came Josh Pilcher in the semi to book his place in the final but his run was short lived.

Notable mentions go to James Dyer, playing a great standard of squash and Craig Couzens for not being able to beat anyone wearing goggles that was under 4 foot tall and less than 12 years old.

Carlos also deservers a mention for some very enthusiastic running.

But the main star of the weekend, was coach Caspar. Despite sampling the delights of folk week and not getting in until 2 in the morning, he still managed to beat “ The Hairy PT” in the semi final. He went on to keep his cool in a feisty final, coming out 3-0 winner and gaining over 2k of squash levels across the weekend.

Well done to Joe Magor and all those at Canterbury Squash Club.

Not a bad adage if you really think about..

What great day yesterday. It was fantastic to see the club busy and some excellent squash.

Ray Grimes 2026.

Thanks to, Coach Caspar for organising, with brilliant support from the bar staff, Julie Chaplin and late substitute Alan Pope for keeping the players fed and watered.

Biggest thanks for all the people that turned up, Mr Grime’s always said the club is as strong as its member’s.

Upon turning up players were given their “Funky it up” colourful t-shirts for their adopted team.
This is where the controversy started and the club this morning has received a complaint from the European Court of Human Rights for forcefully moving a member from last years Green team. Apparently sighting people trafficking, anti slavery and racism law. Who knew plasterers were a race, I thought they/them was a fluid gender not a race.

After some hours of play, with some exceptional matches Chris, Ant, Carlos and Auden winning all of theirs, it came down to just one point.

The Ray Grimes 2026 Champions were the Green Team.
