With everything happening across the North East, there’s been a lot of discussion about young people, crime, gangs and anti-social behaviour.
It’s an important conversation.
Young people need somewhere to go, positive role models, discipline, goals and a sense of belonging.
That’s where a gym like ours, and many others across the area, can make a real difference.
Combat sports, like Muay Thai, can teach young people self-control, respect, resilience and responsibility - but also something just as important: The feeling that they matter.
It gives them coaches who care, training partners who become friends, goals to work towards and a community they can be proud to be part of.
We don’t pretend that stepping through our doors will solve every problem.
But if we can give a young person something positive instead of something destructive, help them find purpose, give them direction and goals in their spare time, or simply give them somewhere they feel they belong, That’s worth doing.
If you’re a parent, guardian or a young person looking for a positive place to belong, feel free to reach out to us, or to your nearest combat sports gym.
Building fighters. Building people. Building community.
