58 today šŸŽ‚ā¤ļø

And I’ve come back to one of my favourite places to celebrate it.

A beautiful retreat, good company, cake (obviously šŸ˜‚), a wood-fired hot tub, sauna, trees and a whole weekend away from normal life.

I’m not making a huge list of intentions for this next trip around the sun.

I think I’d just like more of the things that make life feel good while I’m actually living it.

More laughter.
More experiences.
More time with the people I love.
More adventures.
More moments when I stop long enough to think…

this is one of the good bits. ā¤ļø

Here’s to 58

A little reminder before the weekend…

You don’t have to earn the things that make you feel good.

You don’t need to have finished the housework before you go for the walk.

You don’t need to have answered every message before you sit down with your book.

You don’t need to have ticked everything off the list before you see your friend, go out for lunch, take an afternoon nap or do absolutely nothing useful for an hour.

Somewhere along the way, so many of us learned that rest, pleasure and enjoyment are the things we get after everything else is done.

Except everything is never done, is it? There will always be another load of washing, email, or job to do, another person needing something. So this weekend, perhaps don’t wait until you’ve earned it take it because you need it. Do something simply because it makes your life a little nicer.

There’s something I love about these quiet moments before anyone arrives.

Preparing the room, clearing the space and setting the intention for whoever is about to walk through the door.

Whether it’s yoga, Reiki, breathwork, sound healing or a 1:1 treatment, the preparation is part of the offering for me.

A little pause before I welcome you in.

So… what actually is Conscious Connected Breathwork?

It’s very different to the relaxing gentle breathwork that you may have come across before.

I’ve mentioned this type of breathwork quite a few times recently, and I’ve had people tell me they’re curious about it but aren’t really sure what happens.

So let’s take away some of the mystery…..

Conscious Connected Breathwork isn’t sitting cross-legged trying to breathe perfectly and you don’t need to be good at meditation, know anything about breathwork or arrive feeling wonderfully calm to participate in a session.

You’ll usually be lying comfortably on a mat listening to a carefully selected playlist while I guide you through a continuous breathing pattern …breathing in and out without the usual pause between the breaths.

I’ll be there guiding and supporting you throughout.

The experience itself can be very different from person to person.

For some, it’s deeply reflective, others notice emotions or physical sensations, some experience moments of clarity or insight and some people simply enjoy having the space to turn their attention inward.

And there is no particular experience you’re supposed to have…it varies widely from person to person from session to session and it’s important to acknowledge that and come with an open mind.

My job as a facilitator isn’t to tell you what you should feel, It’s to create a safe, supportive space, guide you through the breath and allow your experience to unfold in its own way.

I’ll be talking more about CCB over the next couple of weeks because it’s become a really important part of the work I offer.

So if you’ve been quietly wondering what on earth I’m talking about… šŸ˜‚ I’d love to ask you what you would like to know about breathwork?

Pop your questions below, even the ones you think are silly. They’re usually the questions everybody else wants to ask too.

Good morning all ! Just a little reminder today that your breath is always with you…..and it’s a an amazing tool to help to regulate your nervous system.

We breathe around 20,000 times a day. Most of the time, we don’t even notice we’re doing it…it’s automatic.

But have you ever noticed what happens to your breath when life gets busy?

It becomes a little quicker. A little shallower. Sometimes we even catch ourselves holding it.

And then there are those moments when we finally sit down at the end of the day and… just sighhhhh and our whole body seems to say, thank goodness for that.

This is one of the reasons I’ve become so fascinated by the breath. Not because we need to breathe perfectly and not because every difficult feeling can be fixed by just taking a deep breath….It can’t.

But because paying attention to something we do naturally, every minute of every day, can give us a way to check in with ourselves….Did you know that we as humans are the only mammal that can control our breath, I find that fascinating.

Try tuning into your breath now….Don’t change your breathing….Just notice it.

Where can you feel your breath today?

Your chest?
Your ribs?
Your belly?
At your nostrils?

That’s it. Just notice without judgement …No technique. No goal. Nothing to achieve.

Just thirty seconds of noticing something that’s been happening quietly in the background all along.

P.S. I’m going to be talking a little more about breathwork over the next couple of weeks including what Conscious Connected Breathwork actually is, because I know lots of you are curious.

Good morning all …today I just want to say ….Don’t miss the good bits waiting for the big bits. ā¤ļø

We’re very good at looking forward to things.

The holiday.
The weekend.
The big celebration.
The thing we’ve been working towards.

But most of life doesn’t happen in those moments.

It happens in the ordinary Tuesday mornings.

The first sip of coffee when it’s exactly right. ā˜•ļø
The dog doing something ridiculous.
A song coming on that you haven’t heard for years.
Laughing so much with somebody that your stomach hurts.
Fresh bedding.
A lovely message you weren’t expecting.
The sun appearing just when you thought summer had completely abandoned us. šŸ˜‚

Tiny things.

Things we could very easily miss because we’re already thinking about what’s next.

So here’s your little Tuesday reminder:

Notice one good bit today.

Nothing profound.
Nothing you need to journal about. šŸ˜‚

Just catch yourself in a moment and think…This is nice.

Because actually, an awful lot of a good life is made up of those tiny, ordinary moments. ā¤ļø

Before you ask, What do I need to get done this week. just take a pause

Monday mornings can very quickly become about lists.

What needs doing.
Where we need to be.
Who needs what from us.
What didn’t get finished last week.

So before all of that takes over, perhaps ask yourself a different question:

ā€œHow do I want to feel this week?ā€

Calm?
Energised?
Connected?
Creative?
Grounded?
Joyful?

And then as yourself …What’s one small thing I could do that might help me feel a little more of that?

It doesn’t need to be another task for the list.

Maybe it’s getting outside every day.

Putting some music on while you make dinner.

Taking ten slow breaths before opening your laptop.

Calling the person who always makes you laugh.

Making time for something you enjoy.

Or simply deciding that not everything needs your attention immediately.

We spend so much of our lives planning what we need to do that often we are never fully present.

Maybe this Monday, we can also give a little thought to how we’d like to feel. ā¤ļø

So… how would you like to feel this week?

My space is more than a yoga studio…..

I sometimes struggle when people ask me exactly what I do.

Because yes, I teach yoga.

But I also work with breath, meditation, sound, Reiki and holistic therapies. I hold retreats and workshops. I create spaces online. And sometimes I simply create a room where someone can lie down, close their eyes and not be needed for a while.

On paper, they can look like lots of completely different things.

But to me, they’re not.

They’re all different ways of helping you come back to yourself.

Some people find that through movement.

Some through stillness.

Some need to breathe.

Some need to be nurtured.

Some want to explore a little more deeply.

And some just want to walk through the door, put everything down for an hour and have absolutely nothing expected of them. ā¤ļø

That’s really what Linda Anslow Wellness has become.

Not somewhere you need to be fit enough, flexible enough, spiritual enough or anything else enough to belong.

Just a little sanctuary in Ashton-in-Makerfield where real people , with real lives, can rest, restore and reconnect.

However that looks for you.

Saturday reminder

You don’t have to make every weekend productive.

Some things are allowed to be done simply because they make you happy.

Good coffee.
A wander somewhere lovely.
Seeing someone who makes you laugh.
Reading for an hour.
Pottering in the garden.
Doing absolutely nothing useful whatsoever. šŸ˜‚

What’s one thing you’re doing this weekend purely because you enjoy it?

I’m at the studio today delivering some gorgeous crystal reiki treatments so I took time out yesterday for a wander and lunch with a friend and will be sure to do something for myself tomorrow ā™„ļø. It’s all about balance

Finished work. Phone away. The rest of the evening still ahead of you…..

There’s something rather lovely about a 6pm yoga class.

A chance to draw a line under the day, move your body, quieten everything down a little… and still be home with your evening ahead of you.

My Tuesday 6pm Gentle Hatha class currently has a few spaces, so if you’ve been thinking about coming along, this is a lovely one to join.

No need to be flexible. No need to know what you’re doing. Just come as you are.
