Atherton Town travel to Bold Miners this Sunday for what promises to be a very tough test against a strong Bold Miners side.

Following a disappointing result last Sunday, the lads will be looking to bounce back and rediscover the form and performances we showed at the beginning of the season.

There’s no doubt it will be a difficult game against a very good side, but the lads will be determined to put last Sunday behind them, work hard, and come away with a much better result.

Atherton Town stormed through Roby Mill today with a huge 15–1 victory! 🔥⚽

Full credit to Roby Mill for carrying on and seeing the game through, but our lads were absolutely on the ball today and put in a fantastic performance from start to finish. 👏

⭐ Tom Jackson bagged an incredible 5 goals in the first half alone!

⚽ Barlow, Briggy, Ash & Leon all grabbed a brace each!

⚽ Maca & Dom also found the back of the net!

💛💚 MATCH REPORT | ATHERTON TOWN 4–2 HAWKLEY ATHLETIC 💚💛

What a way to start the season!

Today was our first game of the season, and the lads certainly didn’t disappoint. From the first whistle, we dominated the game and created chance after chance, hitting the post and the bar inside the opening 20 minutes.

We had 6/7 shots on target, with the Hawkley keeper pulling off save after save as we searched for the breakthrough. Despite all the pressure, we just couldn’t find the goal.

Against the run of play, Hawkley had their first shot of the game — and made it count, taking a 1–0 lead.

But the lads didn’t panic.

Ten minutes later, Leon played a fantastic ball through to Connor, who found himself one on one with the keeper and made no mistake, calmly slotting home to level the game at 1–1.

We continued to push, and 15 minutes later Connor grabbed his second, with Leon once again providing the assist, putting us 2–1 up at half-time.

The second half continued in much the same way, with Atherton dominating possession and creating opportunities, but we couldn’t quite put the game to bed.

With just 10 minutes remaining, Hawkley found an equaliser to make it 2–2.

But this group knew they still had more to give. The belief never dropped.

With just five minutes remaining, Leon showed brilliant strength and composure in midfield, turning nicely before driving forward 30 yards and playing a beautiful ball into Barlow.
Barlow cut inside, curled the ball beautifully into the bottom corner and sent the lads into a frenzy — 3–2! 💚💛

And then came the final blow.
Bobby did what Bobby does best, whacked one long into the corner. The Hawkley defender missed it, and Tom showed great composure to play a perfectly weighted pass into Kearsley, who found himself one on one.
Never in doubt.

Kearsley calmly slotted it home to make it 4–2 and put the game beyond doubt! 🔥

A brilliant performance, a fantastic comeback, and three massive points to start the season.

The lads showed character, belief and quality right until the final whistle.

Atherton Town host Hawkley Athletic in what promises to be a tough opening game of the season.

Hawkley have dropped down two divisions this season and will be looking to make a strong start to life in their new division, just as we are. We know we’ll have to be at our best and put in a solid performance against a side that will be determined to start the season with a win.

We’re looking forward to getting the season underway in front of our home support and hopefully putting in a performance to be proud of.

Three points are the aim. 💪🟡🟢

⚽️ 6–2 WINNERS 🟢🟡

Not the greatest performance in the heat ☀️🥵, but the lads worked their arses off and fully deserved the win! 💪👏

We started slowly and found ourselves 1–0 down as Burden Aces took the lead. 😬

However, we soon responded with Connor getting us back level after a quickly taken free kick from Tom J ⚽️🔥

Connor then grabbed his second with a lovely finish, with Leon providing the assist. 👏💚

Half-time: Atherton Town 2-1 Burden Aces Reserves.

We came out much better in the second half and really started to put our foot down. 💪🔥

Leon grabbed his first of the game with an absolute beauty a 25-yard strike into the bottom corner after Connor laid the ball off perfectly. 🚀⚽️

Leon then got his second with a lovely header from a great cross by Kearsley! 🧠🎯

Kearsley then got himself on the scoresheet with a good finish from a cross by Danny P, who also set him up for his second! ⚽️👏

A great result in tough conditions, and while there are definitely things we can improve on, the most important thing is that the lads showed character, worked hard and got the job done! 💪🟢🟡

Atherton Town 4–1 Hag Fold

Atherton Town welcomed Hag Fold today for another good run out for the lads as we continue our pre-season preparations. 💛💚

The lads started brightly, moving the ball around well and putting together some good football in what was a closely fought opening period.

Jake opened the scoring with a cool finish after being set up brilliantly by Tom J.

Ten minutes later, Leon continued his impressive scoring form during pre-season, adding his first of the game and Town’s second with Tom J once again providing the assist.

Just ten minutes later, Leon grabbed his second of the afternoon to make it 3–0, completing a fantastic first half hat-trick of assists for Tom J.

The lads continued to play some excellent football and went into half time with a deserved three goal advantage.

After the break, we continued to play well while rotating the squad and giving the lads valuable minutes.

Around 20 minutes into the second half, Tom J got himself on the scoresheet to make it 4–0, with Leon turning provider this time with the assist.

Hag Fold managed to grab a consolation goal with 10 minutes remaining, but the lads saw the game out comfortably to secure a 4–1 victory.

Another positive performance, plenty of minutes in the legs, and some great football from the lads.
