**New Couch to 5k (C25K) Get into Running Course**
Would you like to get into running or maybe get back to running but find it difficult to go out on your own? If so, why not join our course and run with others in the same position?
Wymondham Athletics Club are offering a C25k course starting on Monday 12th May at Kettās Park, Wymondham. It will be suitable for both complete beginners and those wishing to return to running after a long time out. Open to everyone 18 years upwards.
There are many benefits to running including improving health and weight management and getting on track to a more healthy lifestyle. More information on fitness and exercise for health is available on the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/
The course will be coached by England Athletics qualified Leaders in Running Fitness (LiRF) and will gradually build week on week with the ultimate objective of being able to run 5k (just over 3 miles) all in one go without stopping!
Anyone wishing to take part, please email: [email protected] giving brief details about your fitness levels and any running experience. Please note that places are limited and will be given on a first come first served basis.
If you have any ongoing health conditions, it is advisable to have a word with your GP before starting the course.

Sad news
We were incredibly disappointed to be advised by Dereham Town FC this week, that with immediate effect they will no longer be in a position to support our event with parking, toilet facilities, refreshments and storage.
Firstly we want to thank the club for the support they have given us, enabling us to launch in July.
Whilst we are trying to make immediate plans for how we can manage certain aspects going forward, one thing is certain - we will be continuing to run Dereham parkrun every Saturday, with kind permission of Dereham Town Council, Breckland District Council and Norfolk County Council.
This means that participants will need to utilise parking in and around the town, or cycle or walk to our event. A reminder please to not park on the roads around the Etling Grange estate, in order to maintain good relations with our neighbours.
Nearest toilets:
Morrisons - ///streaks.twin.reclaimed
Open from 6am
Tescos - ///initiated.escalated.chair
Open from 6am
Dereham Town Centre public toilets - ///origin.cabbies.villa Open 24 hours (as far as we know).
We intend to go ahead with this weeks Dereham Aid Centre collection for Ukraine šŗš¦ and would ask you to take a look at the list of items they are most in need of on our event page.
We ask for a little bit of patience as we start to navigate these changes, but all roads still lead to Dereham parkrun every Saturday morning.
Thank you š

My main goal at the gym yesterday was to do a 5k on the dreadmill⦠and I managed it.
To be completely honest with you, it was far from pretty and I found it tough going. I guess thatās not surprising as I havenāt run since May 2023!
However slow and disappointing it was for me to complete the 5k in this way, itās a start⦠and everyone starts somewhere š
Iām aiming for three gym sessions a week to help me get back into shape and ready for my half marathon in March! šŖš¼

Guess whoās back! š
Rejoined the gym following a hand op and very little free time with a new business and baby (heās 10 months old now, so I canāt use that excuse any longer!).
Who else is back out running?
Bike warmup - 5km run - cool down
Thatās what Iām aiming for anyway. Wish me luck š

The cost of living is definitely having an impact⦠is it possible to run on a budget?
Absolutely!
Running on a Budget Funny how a lot of people say that running is a cheap hobby, but then you end up spending hundreds on new shoes, new clothing, new gadgets.
