We are very sad to see so many young lives being lost in open water during the hot weather right now.

☀️ With the current hot weather, we understand how tempting it can be for children and teenagers to cool off in lakes, rivers, quarries, and open water areas.

However, even on warm days, open water can be extremely dangerous and unpredictable

Hidden currents
Sudden depth changes
Cold water shock
Weeds and unseen hazards
No rescue equipment

Most open water is sitting at 14-16c right now - which is cold 🥶

At AQUAnimals, we are passionate about teaching children not only how to swim, but how to stay safe in and around water.

Water safety & respect for water is a huge part of our lessons, and we pride ourselves on educating our swimmers about the dangers of open water, the importance of supervision, knowing their limits, floating to live, and what to do in an emergency.

Please take the time to speak to your children and loved ones about water safety this summer. One conversation could save a life.

It's never just a swimming lesson...

Babies love mirrors because they are fascinated by faces and high-contrast movements.

In the first months, they don’t realize the reflection is their own; they simply see an intriguing "playmate" to interact with, which helps them build social skills, practice visual tracking, and develop muscle control.

Fascination with faces: Babies are biologically hardwired to look at faces. A mirror gives them a close-up, high-contrast view of expressions, smiles, and eye movements.

The illusion of a playmate: Since infants don't recognize themselves in a mirror until around 18 months, they view their reflection as another exciting baby looking right back at them.

Visual tracking: Watching their own arms and legs move in the mirror helps train their eyes to follow objects, build focus, and improve depth perception.

Tummy time motivation: Placing a baby-safe mirror on our floating mat distracts them during tummy time. The urge to look at "another baby" encourages them to lift their heads and push up, strengthening their neck and core muscles.

Early social skills: Your baby will practice cooing, smiling, and making back-and-forth expressions with their reflection, which lays the foundation for communication.

We're ready to book your slots for the Easter break. We have lots of slots and anyone can hire the pool, not just AQUAnimals.

After almost a decade of teaching, we have developed our own bespoke certificates and badge system, and they look great!

From your first swim, Discovery Duckling series into Duckling and onto Stage 1-7 we have the collection!

We didn't need reinvent the national framework — but because we have created something special within it we wanted to make it more bespoke...more AQUAnimals!

For swimmers who show readiness and enthusiasm, this can lead to:

We'll pick at 8pm tonight a random person that has been tagged and pass them the hire slot for free.
