Buttermalcom Cup Final

Muriel Forbes v Archie Maclellan

Both players contested a final the night before, so a tight encounter was expected.

Grey skies, but dry, although chillier conditions for the last final of the season.

Played over 11 ends, both players off the mark 1-1 after 2 ends.

Muriel raced into a 6-1 lead after 7 ends, with Archie coming back over the next couple of ends.

Score was 7-3 after end 10, each end was won by the one shot only and bowls within 6" to win the shot, very good standard, and liberal use of chalk.

Last end commenced with Archie requiring a 4 for an extra end. Archie lying 3 bowls with both a bowl to come, so still tight. Muriel draws the shot with her final bowl to claim the win 8-3, and 2nd Cup in 2 days.

Well done again to Muriel and better luck to Archie next season.

Special mention to Paul Curtis who marked the final tonight and also on the previous evening.

Muriel Forbes v Archie Maclellan

Glorious weather greeted the players.

What turned out to be a good competitive game with Muriel taking an early lead.

Archie came back into the game, before Muriel stretched her lead again.

Great bowling from both players as we reached the business end, Muriel withstanding a final surge from Archie, to get over the line winning 21-17.

Well done Muriel, better luck next time Archie.

Gents Championship Final 2026

Gordon Band v Volkan Gunes

A nice evening for the Gents Bowls Final, both players scoring singles to get off the mark 1-1 after 2 ends.

Volkan settled into the game and quickly raced into a 9-1 lead.

Gordon came surging back winning the next 4 ends and only 2 behind, 9-7 to Volkan.

The next 5 or 6 ends were shared, scoreline 14-12 in Volkan's favour, with nothing between the players.

Volkan kicked-on going 17-12 up, then 19-12, playing some great bowls, Gordon unlucky not to dislodge scoring bowls.

Volkan lying 3 bowls to have title in his grasp, again Gordon unlucky with final bowl and Volkan was Gents Champion for 2026.

Good healthy crowd in attendance, well done to Mark for opening up the bar.

Congratulations to Volkan a deserved winner and commiserations to Gordon, who will be there or thereabouts for winning the title next season.

Both players playing well, expecting a good game.

Gents Championship Semi-Final

Volkan Gunes v Kenny Rogalski

A glorious evening as the players entered the green.

Volkan raced into a 5-1 lead, as both were getting used to the green conditions under the floodlights.

Kenny started to come into the game, especially playing towards the club house, turning the game around into an 11-6 lead.

Kenny could have been further ahead if not for Volkan when 4 down twice, cutting the shots down, with last bowl in hand.

Volkan was playing the better bowls away from the club house, and the score was 12-11 to Kenny after 15 ends.

The game was tight with singles enough to win ends and tied at 14-14 after 20 ends.

The game swung in Volkan's favour with 4 good bowls to go 18-14 up.

Kenny cut it back to 18-15, however Volkan was not to be outdone and a further 3 good bowls on the 23rd end to win the tie 21-15.

A good game of bowls, with Volkan a worthy winner, and Kenny on another night could have been through to another final.

Final Volkan Gunes v Gordon Band, with date and time to be advised later this week.

Thanks to those in attendance for supporting both players.

There will be a new name on the Cup and Winners Board.

Apparell Cog Final - Result

Gordon Band v Volkan Gunes

Floodlights were on for this eagerly anticipated final.

Volkan started the better, taking the first set convincingly.

Gordon came back strong, taking the second set.

Extra 3 ends played for winner, and by ends won.

First end Volkan had all 4 bowls lying, however only the one point for winning end.

Second end won by Gordon, so 1 each with 3rd extra end deciding the winner.

3rd extra end and both had bowls close to touching the jack, with his last bowl Gordon knocked out Volkan's closest bowl, a worthy bowl to win the final.

Well done to Gordon, and unlucky to Volkan on a close encounter.

Thanks to those in attendance for support and to President Frank McKeown for marking.
