Bellvue travelled to Rosyth hoping to continue their recent good form, but from the outset, it was clear this was going to be a difficult afternoon for the lads.
The hosts were well up for the contest and caused Bellvue plenty of problems, particularly from set pieces. Their physical presence, combined with the blustery conditions, made life awkward for our defence.
Bellvue struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities, with the best moment of the first half coming from a well-worked set-piece routine involving McMurdo and Melrose. Melrose delivered a dangerous cross, but it was just out of reach of our attackers.
Bellvue started the second half a little brighter but found themselves two goals down by the 58th minute. The first was a poor goal to concede from our point of view, while the second was a superb free kick from around 25 yards.
Callum Brown gave Bellvue a glimmer of hope in the 69th minute when he stabbed home to make it 2-1.
Unfortunately, that hope was short-lived as Bellvue conceded another disappointing goal to leave themselves with a mountain to climb.
The lively Brown would strike again in the 90th minute, rounding the goalkeeper before finishing from a tight angle to make it 3-2 and set up a nervy finish.
However, it proved too little, too late, as Dunfermline City held on to take all three points and were deserved winners on the day.
A frustrating afternoon for the lads, but there's little time to dwell on it with the big matches continuing to come thick and fast.
We put this one behind us and turn our attention to next Saturday, when St Andrews Ammies visit Low Road.
