Congratulations to England on winning their second T20 against Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Sri Lanka’s T20 batting ,a tough result, but a clear opportunity to improve

England deserve full credit for their bowling in the second T20I. Sri Lanka finished on 145/9 from 20 overs, and England’s bowlers delivered 50 dot balls. That is nearly 42% of the innings without a run.

Sonny Baker was particularly impressive: 1/15 from four overs, including 16 dot balls. Liam Dawson took 3/32, while Jamie Overton added 2/23. England did more than take wickets; they kept building pressure between them.

For Sri Lanka, the most concerning passage was the fall from 56/0 to 95/5. A promising start became a difficult recovery. That is the point where a T20 batting side needs clear decisions: who takes responsibility, where are the safe singles, and which bowler offers the best scoring opportunity?

This is not a call for every batter to swing harder. International T20 cricket demands smart intent. Turning just 20 of those 50 dots into singles would have moved the total from 145 to 165, without hitting another boundary. Those small moments matter.

Here is what I would like Sri Lanka to work on:

✅ Rotate the strike earlier. Use soft hands, placement and quick running so a good over does not become a scoreless one.

✅ Give each batter a clear role. When wickets fall, one player can stabilise while the other keeps looking for scoring options. Both must stay involved.

✅ Practise pressure situations. Recreate 56/2 or 95/5 in training and challenge batters to rebuild at a useful T20 rate.

✅ Target matchups intelligently. Respect outstanding spells, but be ready to score when a less effective over arrives.

✅ Build confidence through decision-making. Positive cricket means choosing the right scoring option for the ball, not attempting a boundary every delivery.

Sri Lanka has the talent to respond. The next step is to combine that talent with better strike rotation, clearer plans after wickets, and the confidence to keep the scoreboard moving against top international attacks. 🇱🇰

What would you prioritise first: reducing dot balls, improving the middle order, or changing the batting approach?Sri Lanka Cricket England Cricket

🏏 NexaGen players, let’s hear your latest training win!

What clicked in your last net session? Did you bowl three deliveries on a better line, watch the ball right onto the bat, move your feet earlier, or pull off a sharper catch?

👇 Comment with:

1. One specific win from your session — what improved and what happened?
2. ONE goal for your next session.

Maybe you hit three clean drives in a row, beat the bat with a new delivery, or took a catch you might have missed before. Every win matters! Celebrate the progress, choose one clear goal, and attack your next session with purpose. 🔵🔴
