If you have a toddler who won't leave your side but you still want to be able to do a workout, then swipe to see 6 exercises that you can do together with your child:

1) Forward Lunges (whilst carrying or holding your toddler)

2) Shoulder Press (lifting your toddler up)

3) Squats (whilst cuddling your toddler)

4) Press-Ups (whilst your toddler is lying down, feel free to give kisses each time you get close 😘😅) - Spoiler alert: this gets real challenging if your child would rather climb on you than lie down 🤣🤣

5) Glute Bridge (with your child sitting on your hips)

6) Sit-Ups (with your child sitting on your feet, make it more fun by tickling him/her each time you come up)

You can combine these exercises to do a 15min circuit workout by doing one exercise after another:

for 40sec each
with 10sec rest in between
and repeat the circuit 3 times.

⚠️Disclaimer: Safety first! Whenever you exercise with (or without) your child make sure that it is safe for you AND for your child to do so!  This is obvious, but your child is not a dumbbell and should not be used just like a piece of weight. Also be vigilant of wiggly toddlers who might not cooperate and don't force little ones to join in. This is meant to be fun for both, parent and child! 🤗

Do you ever feel a little anxious or out of place when going to the gym? Then this post is for you!

Apologies in advance, it's a long one, but I promise it's worth a read 😁

So if you want to find more confidence in the gym then try the following:

1)  DON'T do it ALONE- find yourself a gym buddy, go with a friend or get yourself a personal trainer. You'll feel more comfortable with someone there to support you, especially in the beginning.

2) Have a PLAN - think about what exercises you will be doing before you even enter the gym. You might have a PT or a gym instructor who can write a workout plan for you or otherwise use a fitness App or similar.

3) Be willing to LEARN - figuring out how to use the equipment or how to do certain exercises isn't always straight forward. It's ok to ask for help. Ask a gym instructor (it's literally their job to help you) and don't be embarrassed to also ask other gym users. Most gyms offer free inductions, which is a great starting point. You can also look up exercises online (e.g. on YouTube).

4) Have a POSITIVE mindset - Reassure yourself that you're doing great and don't worry about what others might think, just focus on YOU. Easier said than done, I know. Try using headphones to listen to your favourite music and to keep you focused.

5) Avoid your gym's peak TIME - if you're flexible then try to go to the gym when it's a little quieter. An overcrowded gym can feel quite overwhelming. Peak time is often the Post-Work window, around 5.30-7.30pm but can vary depending on the gym.

6) Make it a HABIT to go CONSISTENTLY - It's normal to feel nervous when you do something for the first time. The more you do it, the more confident you will feel!

7) TRACK your progress - seeing results (no matter how small the achievement might be) will keep you motivated and will help you feel proud of yourself and thus more confident!

And remember, the gym is for EVERYONE. It's not just for the FIT, but it's a place to get FITTER - no matter your current fitness level!

Feel free to add any further tips in the comments so we can make this post as helpful as possible ☺️

I've got a question for you:

How do you feel when you enter a gym? Or if you don't actually go to a gym then how do you feel when you just think about going to a gym? 🏋🏻‍♀️

Confident or anxious? Happy to just do your thing or kinda uncomfortable? Energised and excited or tired out and deflated? Are you nervous or cool as a cucumber? Do you feel right at home in the gym or rather clueless on what to do?🤔

I really want to know! So please, please share how you feel in the comments (or DM if you want to keep it private)! 📝

And if the thought of going to the gym makes you feel rather anxious then please know that you are not alone! Gym anxiety is so common that there even is a word for it: gymtimidation! Let me know if this is something you can relate to as I want to share more on how to deal with gym anxiety, how to overcome it, and how to find joy and confidence through exercise!

PS: A fully equipped gym is a great place to work out but you don't necessarily need a gym to exercise. You can do a workout at home, out in nature, at your local park, in a swimming pool or pretty much anywhere. You're not sure how? Then drop me a message and let me help you figure out what works for you! 💪🏼😃🤗
