We are thrilled to congratulate Teri Guest, a former ADNL Treasurer and Vice‑Chair on being named one of the WINNERS of England Netball’s One Award for Outstanding Contribution in Delivering Great Sessions in the Netball East region.

Teri’s dedication to supporting young athletes and umpires has always been clear to everyone who’s worked with her. Her passion, encouragement and ability to create a positive environment have made a lasting impact.

Her humility and gratitude in receiving this award say everything about the kind of person she is.

💬 My favourite part of the role has always been making a positive impact on young people and watching them grow both on and off the court. I’ve loved creating a supportive environment where individuals feel encouraged, empowered, and confident to challenge themselves and improve their performance. Seeing athletes and umpires develop new skills, enjoy the experience, build friendships, and achieve their goals has been the most fulfilling part of the journey.

💬 This nomination means so much to me because it reflects the positive impact, I’ve been able to make in the lives of young athletes and umpires. Knowing that the time, support, and encouragement I’ve given has helped others grow in confidence, develop their abilities, and achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding. To be recognised in this way is both an honour and a reminder of why I am so passionate about coaching and supporting young people on their journey

💬 I was absolutely gob smacked. I wasn’t expecting this at all. I’m incredibly grateful for this nomination and to have made it this far. I want to say a huge thank you to the team behind me, because I’m only where I am thanks to the people who support me. Without them and without the pupils, the girls, all the players, and the umpires. none of this would be possible. This isn’t just for me; it’s for all of them. Thank you so much! 🥰

🏆 2025/26 Jen and Friends Spirit of Netball Team Award 🏆

The selected team stood out for the way they consistently bring fairness and warmth and enjoyment to the court. Their nominators said:

“Always friendly, always a nice match.”

“This team has always been consistently fair and considerate on court. It is always a joy to play against them.”

“A lovely, friendly team to play against. They play fairly, avoid unnecessary issues, show great spirit and clearly enjoy their netball.
For their fairness, friendliness, sportsmanship and the positive spirit they bring to every match.”

The Jen and Friends Spirit of Netball Award is not only about recognising the way teams play the game today; it is also about remembering those who have helped shape our league and our netball community over many years. As we celebrate the spirit of netball, it is fitting that we take a moment to honour two much-loved members of our netball family who sadly passed away this season, Caroline Hales and Mary Lunnon, and this year’s award is in memory of them both.

🏆2025/26 Chairman’s Award 🏆

One of the best things about being League Chairman is having the opportunity to recognise people who make our netball community such a great place to be. This year’s Chairman’s Award goes to someone who does exactly that.

As many of you know, this is my first year as Chairman, so choosing the recipient of my first Chairman’s Award was something I gave a lot of thought to. I wanted it to go to someone who truly reflects the values of our league, both on and off the court.

This person is one of those people who always seems to have a smile on their face, whether they’re playing, umpiring, or standing on the sidelines supporting others. They are genuinely one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, which is quite an achievement in itself when you’ve just blown the whistle and made a decision that half the court disagrees with!

As a player, they are committed, reliable and always give their all. But what really stands out is the way they play the game. They are competitive when they need to be, but always fair, respectful and a great ambassador for netball.

As an umpire, they bring exactly the same qualities. Umpiring is not always the easiest job, and it can sometimes feel like a thankless task. Yet they do it with fairness, professionalism and good humour, earning the respect of players across the league.

What I admire most is the example they set. They treat everyone with kindness and respect, support their fellow players, and contribute so much to the positive atmosphere within our league. They remind us that netball is not just about winning matches; it’s about friendship, community and enjoying the game together.

As the first recipient of my Chairman’s Award, I honestly couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. This person represents everything that is good about our league and everything that makes our netball community special.
