Yesterday’s U18 and Senior Track and Field Champs in Aberdeen mark the end of the 2026 outdoor season. Well done to all of the athletes who travelled up and performed over the weekend and congratulations to Gavin, Tony and Matthew on their podium finishes!
Medallists
Silver 🥈
Gavin Drysdale - 100m Frame Running in a time of 16.78s
Bronze 🥉
Anthony Tanagho - 100m Frame Running in a time of 19.95s (PB)
Matthew Cox - U18 Men 110m Hurdles in a time of 15.09s (PB)
U18 Men
Matthew was also competing in the 100m Sprint and progressed all the way to the final where he finished in 6th place in a time of 11.36s.
Callan Blackwood qualified for the 200m final where he finished in 7th place in a time of 23.22s.
Kieran Murphy was just shy of his PB in the 400m Hurdles final finishing in 7th place. It was a new PB of 12.10s in the 100m however. Unfortunately an injury meant Kieran couldn’t race the 200m the next day.
U18 Women
Laurie McAlpine threw big in the Hammer Throw setting a new PB of 45.65m which left her finishing in 4th place just off the podium.
Anna Campbell finished in 6th out of 18 in Long Jump with a best of 5.05m. In the 100m Hurdles she finished in 5th place against some tough competition.
Katie Ablett raced both the 100m and 200m. She finished in 5th place in her 100m heat in a time of 14.03s and 7th in her 200m in a time of 29.12s.
Mia McKinstry progressed through to the semi finals of the 200m setting a new PB of 26.82s in the process.
Willow Challis had a tough race in 1500m finishing in 8th place quite a way off her best.
Senior Men
U20 athlete Luca Stewart was racing the Senior Men’s 200m and set a nice new PB in the heats of 23.35s which wasn’t quite enough to qualify for the final.

Wow, what a weekend! Our incredible group of athletes performed to a very high standard at the National Age Group Championships for U14/U16 and U20s. 14 podium finishes - 3 Golds, 3 Silvers and 7 Bronze. There were a few standout performances including Abigail Good winning Gold in the 800m in a new championship best performance which is amazing considering Abigail’s recent recovery from a tricky injury! Turnout from our throws athletes was also outstanding this year. Well done to the throws coaching team for all of their hard work. Well done also to the U18 athletes who were stepping up an age group and competing against U20s!
