Ayr Northfield Bowling Club

This year’s presentation night is Sat 17th Oct. Tickets will be available from this Fri 11th Sept.Usual rules first week for member and social members open to friends and family from Friday 18th. Tickets are free of charge so get in quick to avoid disappointment. Entertainment will be Gary Lynass.

Yesterday saw the annual Northfield BC invitation triples take place, sponsored by Bridges Bar in Ayr.
A fantastic day of bowling culminated in the final between Northwest BCs Jim Lewis, Ross Peacock and Brian McNeillie and Allister Reid (Seafield), Iain Hamilton and Graham Hough of Northfield.
In the end the Kilmarnock side came out victorious - so a big well done to Jim, Ross and Brian and hard lines to Allister, Iain and Graham.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their help in organizing the tournament, the sponsors for supporting our club, the ladies behind the bar for their efforts, all the kitchen helpers who did a fantastic job but most of all to all the players who came to take part on the day.

Congratulations to Graham Mckinlay on winning the Brady Trophy (over 55 singles) this evening after a hard fought battle against Graham Hough. Commiserations to the losing Graham.

There is an issue with our landline which is causing intermittent broadband issues. As a result our card machines may not function.
An engineer is scheduled to visit the club on Friday morning. Hopefully he/she will be able to resolve the problem.

Senior round-up.

Over the last few days some of our senior finals were played. First up was the fours, where Brian Cavers, Peter McArthur, Graeme Longair & Colin Smith defeated Ian Devlin, Robin Grier, Graham Hough & Graham Mckinlay in a tight finish. Next up was the triples where Tommy Semple, Jim Cairns & Graham Hough overcame the challenge of Brian Auld, Donald Hendry & Ian Mowbray. Lastly, Brian Auld & Ian Mowbray pipped Jim Cairns & Donald Hendry in the pairs, after an extra end. Well done to the winners and commiserations to the runners-up.

Next up is the senior singles final, for the Brady Trophy. Graham McKinlay and Graham Hough meet on Friday 4th September at 17:45. Good luck to both players.

Congratulations to our Gents Top 10 team after they retained their Ayrshire Bowling Association Top 10 title with victory over Townholm at Coylton. Only the second time EVER that's happened!

Northfield came flying out of the traps but Townholm kept battling away - the singles in particulars was really close but eventually Ryan Dempsey got 2 points on the board with a 21-16 win.
The pairs got off to a great start but we're pegged back at 14-14 when rain stopped play.
The triples, after a terrific start were 10 up and the fours had pulled away to 14up. With only a few ends left and the rain belting town - Townholm conceded the game

We would like to thank the Townholm boys for a great game, played in good spirit and also thanks to Ayrshire Bowling Association for their efforts and also to Coylton Bowling Club 2020 for hosting us today.

Good luck to Northfields Top 10 today as they travel to Coylton for the Ayrshire Bowling Association Top 10 final. Northfield are looking to become only the second team EVER to win back-to-back titles. Today's opposition are Townholm BC from Kilmarnock. It's sure to be an afternoon of top quality bowls and high drama! As ever if you are able to, come along and shout on the team!

Morning folks, Christopher Duffy currently on the green in the ATL Champion of Champions at Crooksmoss. He currently trails 5-8 to Prestwick's Jamie Houston.

Congratulations to Christopher Duffy, as he defeats Forehill's Kenny Barr to reach the final of the ATL Champion of Champions. Christopher will now face Jamie Houston of Prestwick. The final takes place tomorrow morning at 10am @ Crooksmoss BC.

It's going to be a busy day tomorrow for Christopher as after his final he will be heading to the ABA top 10 final @ Coylton BC.
