Today marked the 3rd visit for one fantastic dad-and-son duo, but this time, they brought the whole crew along for a full family showdown. We love nothing more than welcoming back familiar faces, and this family brought the perfect mix of high energy and competitive spirit!

The competition was fierce, the banter was top-tier, but above all, it was all about friendly fun and making memories together. 🇬🇧🎯

🏆 Highlight of the day?
We debuted our brand-new RIF (Replica Imitation Firearm)—an incredible replica of the current British service rifle, the L85 A3! Safe to say, it was a massive hit and definitely upped the stakes on the leaderboard.

🌲 What a brilliant way to wrap up the half term! 🌲

This past week, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting the boys and staff from Belmont School - Lancashire here at Wood-Sage Outdoor.

Food is always a massive focus of what we do, and this week was no exception! Beyond just filling bellies, cooking and eating together in the great outdoors is where the real magic happens. The lads picked up some fantastic life and social skills—working as a team to prep meals, sharing the responsibilities, and genuinely bonding over proper chats around the fire.

Of course, outdoor adventures always come with a few unexpected challenges... Like when the frisbee got hopelessly stuck high up in a tree! 🥏🌲 It kept everyone entertained for ages as the boys launched a full-scale rescue mission. The sheer determination and brilliant teamwork they showed to get it back down was an absolute joy to watch.

Meanwhile, our bird feeding stations have been buzzing with visitors! 🐦 We’ve recently switched over to mealworms to provide a protein-rich supplement, which is perfect for supporting all the hungry young birds at the moment.

A huge thank you to the fantastic staff and boys from Belmont School for bringing such great energy to the woods.

🎯 Family Time + Friendly Competition = The Perfect Gift! 🎯

Today on our electronic airsoft range, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting a brilliant mum-and-son duo! This session was an extra special one, as it was a Christmas present being put to use via one of our personalized Wood-Sage gift vouchers. 🎁

After a quick safety briefing and demonstration, the competitive spirit took over! 🔥 It turns out they both have excellent aim, but very different tastes in gear. Mum and son each favoured a different RIF (Realistic Imitation Firearm)—which is exactly why we keep a diverse lineup of styles on hand. There’s a perfect fit for everyone!

Beyond the flying bbs and leaderboard scores, today was all about quality family time, shared laughs, and making memories that last way past the festive season.

Talk about scorching hot action—and we aren't just talking about their shooting skills! The outside temperature was a whopping 35°C today. Thank goodness for the field shelter, though even in the shade it was a sizzling 27°C! 🥵

Behind the Scenes at Wood-Sage! 🛠️🎯

We’ve been busy making some upgrades to the range, but not without a classic "doh!" moment along the way...

• Airsoft Upgrades: The new fence line we put in last weekend is officially upgraded! We’ve fixed a fine mesh debris net to the back face. It acts as a perfect safety backstop for our electronic airsoft range. The best part? It’s completely invisible from the front but plenty strong enough for the job. 🎯💪

• The Tomahawk Tweak: Simon had a little learning experience with the new tomahawk targets he installed last weekend. He accidentally put the wood grain the wrong way, meaning the hawks bounced right off! 🪵🪓 Good thing we always test everything before customers arrive! All fixed now and sticking perfectly.

Fuel for the work... 🪵🔥
Of course, you can't run an outdoor center on an empty stomach. Lunch was a cracker: delicious sausage rolls, warmed up perfectly in the Dutch oven over the stove, served with a proper dash of HP Sauce. Absolute perfection!

The new stencil arrives this week, so we'll be painting the brand-new target faces very soon. Watch this space!

🌲 Adventure Awaits: 4 Days with Belmont School! 🌲

What an incredible 4 days we had last week with the boys and staff from Belmont School! From the crackle of the fire to the hunt for tiny crawlers, it’s been a week of growth, grit, and great food.

Here’s a look at what we got up to:

🔥 Campfire Culinary Delights
We took the kitchen outdoors! The boys mastered the art of campfire cooking, whipping up:
• Golden French Toast: The perfect way to start a morning.
• Custom Campfire Pizza: A crowd-favourite where the pupils took the lead on toppings. Who knew outdoor cooking could taste this good?

🏃‍♂️ Skills in Action
It wasn’t all just lounging by the fire. We kept the energy high with:
• High-speed team games to build communication.
• Badminton and whistling Nerf ball sessions.
• The Goal: Sneakily developing hand-eye coordination and motor skills while having a blast!

🔍 Sneaky Science & Nature
We went on a Mini-Beast Hunt! Our young explorers practiced finding and identifying local critters before carefully releasing them back to their homes. It’s all about building environmental awareness and a little "sneaky science" along the way.

The Big Picture: Beyond the activities, our true focus remained on personal development and social skills. Seeing the boys support each other and grow in confidence is why we do what we do.

We’ve been busy bees lately, and the site is looking better than ever! A massive thank you to our incredible family and friends who rolled up their sleeves to help us with these latest improvements. We truly couldn't have done it without our amazing community.

What’s New on Site?
• Better Views & Privacy: We’ve installed a brand-new fence across the back of the site. It’s given the area a real facelift and created a perfect privacy screen from the road, keeping our sessions feeling secluded and wild.
• Levelled-Up Axe Throwing: The tomahawk wall just got a serious glow-up! We’ve fitted three new target faces for every thrower. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-timer, you’ve now got more to aim for! 🎯🪓

Fueled by Food 🥓🍔
You can't run a work party on empty stomachs! We made sure our volunteer crew was well-fuelled:
• Breakfast butties on arrival to kickstart the momentum.
• A superb BBQ at the end of the afternoon for the workers, plus the kids and partners who joined us to celebrate a job well done.

🎯 Mission Accomplished: An Action-Packed Day with The Level Club!

What a fantastic day we had hosting eastlancashirelevelclub and their families! The energy was high, the sun was out, and the competition was next-level.

🔫 The Main Event: Airsoft Tournament
The focus of the day was our high-stakes airsoft tournament. Using our realistic imitation fi****ms and state-of-the-art electronic target range, shooters put their accuracy to the ultimate test over a number of rounds and scenarios.

The competition was split into two tiers:
• Under 16s Winner: Edward🏆
• Over 16s Winner: Ellis🏆
While the competition was fierce, it was played with incredible sportsmanship and plenty of laughs. Both winners took home a specially engraved trophy to mark their victory!

🍔 Feast Mode: On
No outdoor adventure is complete without a proper feed. We fired up the BBQ with premium meats supplied by our local butcher Bob's Butchers—it’s safe to say nobody went home hungry!

🪓 Family Fun & Games
When they weren't busy on the range, families kept the momentum going with:
• Soft Axe Throwing (all the fun, none of the danger!)
• Badminton 🏸
• Giant Connect 4 🔴

❤️ A Brotherhood of Support
It was a pleasure to host a group that embodies such a strong sense of community. Freemasonry is built on the pillars of friendship, charity, and integrity—values we see reflected every time The Level Club visits. They do incredible work supporting new and young Masons in the area, fostering a true sense of belonging.

Our very own Simon is a proud Freemason himself, and he loved sharing the "Wood-Sage" experience with his fellow Brothers and their families.
