We are in the heart of the Lake District for our second 🇬🇧 gravel rally of the season, the Grizedale Stages Rally.

Starting with no.2 on the doors, we head into the night for a 5-mile blast this evening before a full day tomorrow.

Last weekends event was something very different from what I am used to, the competition was immense at the top end, we managed to come home with 11th after being denied a top 10 due to a puncture but still extremely happy. I was determined to get to the end for the experience, long stages, extremely high temperatures and constantly changing surfaces.

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at Mellors Elliot Motorsport for their help getting the Thornbridge Brewery Proton Iriz R5 ready for the event, the car was perfect all weekend, the Michelin Motorsport tyres worked incredibly as always!! Kielder WT tools getting me out of trouble once again with their tool kit!!

The entire team consisted of Ben Mellors, Ian Windress, Dad and myself, but sometimes a small team is all you need, especially when you have got continuous support around you even if they aren’t there in person!!

We are looking forward to our next competitive event but next up is Goodwood Festival of Speed, an event that is always enjoyable!!

Plenty for Oliver Mellors Rallying and Max Freeman to take away from 8th place in yesterday's opening round of the 2021 British Rally Championship at Oulton Park.

Hampered by a leg injury, Mellors set some encouraging times despite being out of the car for around 8 months and the battled with an impressive BRC entry.

Catching cars is the nature of an event like this and that cost the Thornbridge Brewery backed ace some time but we are looking forward to getting back onto gravel at next months Nicky Grist Stages.

Last weekend saw the opening round of the MSN Rally Championship, the event ran faultlessly and massive thank you to all the organisers, marshals, rescue crews etc for all their hard work gone into make the event run so smoothly especially under the current circumstances!!

Thank you again to all at Mellors Elliot Motorsport for their hard work after a small off on SS1 to get the car looking presentable, also Max Freeman for sitting in and doing a great job as always.

Finally a big thanks to Thornbridge Brewery, RVL, Michelin Motorsport and Kielder WT for their continued support.

Hopefully it won’t be long till we are back out again 🤞🏼.

👀 🇸🇪 Pontus tames a Proton! 👀

were delighted to welcome WRC - FIA World Rally Championship leader Pontus Tidemand to the UK last week to test the Proton Cars at a secret location.

The rapid Swede, who has already secured three WRC2 wins so far this season was able to cover a substantial amount of mileage at the military base.

"It was fantastic to have a current World Championship driver in the Proton" said MEM Director Chris Mellors.

"Pontus is right at the top of his game and his feedback was extremely positive. We are working on opportunities for the future."

Being able to compete at Goodwood Road & Racing Speedweek in the Thornbridge Brewery backed Proton Iriz R5 was fantastic, with a mix of tight technical stage running into the dark, was great to be back out. Safe to say we can’t wait for the next event and hopefully it won’t be to far away!

Thank you again to all the organisers, marshals and everyone else involved making sure such a unique event could take place, defiantly not easy given the current circumstances!

This week we should have been at the amazing Goodwood Festival of Speed for what is always an incredible event not only as a competitor but to relax with so many other fantastic people. Hopefully we will be back next year to enjoy the atmosphere!!

Unfortunately due to the current situations surrounding Covid-19 our Motorsport plans have been forced to change, hopefully in the coming weeks we will be able to share more of our plans to get back to the stages!!
