I hope Pamela Pillay doesn't mind me re-sharig this post , but it means so much. I don't think many people realise that being an older (not old, but older) fitness instructor is really not that easy. Ageism is real, even though people and employers say it isn't, it really is. Imposter syndrome creeps in more than you know. I mean, why will a group, a studio owner, a potential client choose the 50+ year old when they can have an energetic and fresh young trainer? These questions haunt you - every single class I teach, I wonder if it will be good enough. I never take it for granted. I do give my all. And I know my people are always appreciative and complimentary - I love them for this... It was just extra special to have a visitor in my class on Saturday, and for her to have enjoyed it so much that she will come back when she next visits the UK. These are the little compliments and moments that give me that boost; that quieten that voice of doubt in my head, and make me realise I AM GOOD ENOUGH. So, thank you for this, and thank you to everyone who ever steps into one of my classes.- you make what I do as a job not feel like a job at all, but a get together with friends (and yes, I make my friends do active things too š¤£)
