Some people say there's a story behind every picture. These 2 pics popped up on my memory today from Cookstown 2017.
Not a lot people knew Tommy had broke his ankle 10 days before the meeting but he refused a plaster cast at hospital and instead had a hard plastic brace fitted. Key thing was this brace was removable by velcro straps and could be removed to squeeze into a race boot
HIs Manx GP entries had been accepted and he still needed a couple of race days to get mountain licence.
Decision was made to go and "ride around" and get another race day .
3rd pic is of his ankle when we got home after racing on the Saturday evening
Needless to say the ankles "not great " yet but if u going to be stupid u better be tough

22 millionaires about to start champions league final chasing a ball around a pitch. Meanwhile the biggest challenge in our wee sport is about to kick off on Isle of Man tomorrow with the select few being paid a pittance in comparison and the most paying to be there taking part. Best of luck to everyone taking to the start line in this unbelievable event, from the "big boys" to the man in a van in the bottom paddock.
No prizes for guessing who we will be cheering on , bring her home son. MD6β€

Gutted to say that unfortunately we are not going to make it to Tandragee 100 this weekend.
Bit of a crash last weekend in Cookstown and has done couple ribs ankle ligaments and just generally battered and brused.
Not ideal at this time because we could done with race days for Manx GP licence before the cut off date, but it is what it is.
Best of luck to all the competitors this weekend.
