DONAGHYS OF BANBRIDGE
PLAYER OF THE MATCH...
π·οΈ CALLEIGH DODDS π·οΈ
Banbridge Rangers Women took on Tristar Women last night at Cheney Park and put in a very accomplished performance despite being well down for numbers, mostly due to holidays.
Both teams put out young squads with the Banbridge back four averaging just 16 years old with a debut for centre back Katie McFarland after registering last week having formerly played at Banbridge Town.
The defence was marshalled by Calleigh Dodds who has shown excellent maturity throughout her debut season in Women's Football. Calleigh reads the game really well and combined with natural athleticism she has become an integral part of the squad and fits in both on and off the pitch.
Becca Wilson volunteered to move from her normal role in defence to cover as goalkeeper and showed superb bravery throughout the match. Tristar scored early in the first half and a late one in second half and left with all three points in what was another evenly contested fixture. With no available subs Rangers lost a couple of players to injury and finished without a full compliment but hopefully can turn things around during the return fixture next Wednesday.
There were some really encouraging performances from the younger members of the team but also a ninety minutes from Assistant Coach Helen Peters who put in a solid performance in centre midfield.
It is very much a learning curve this season with a mix of young and inexperienced players in a challenging division but the girls are still competing and covering every possible blade of grass.
Congratulations to Calleigh on her award. She is pictured with Peter from Donaghys of Banbridge who have not only sponsored the trophies for each match but also match balls for the season. If you are in need of a new outfit or sports gear please show them your support in the heart of Banbridge.

MATCH POSTPONED!!
Ballymena United Reserves P-P Banbridge Rangers Women
Due to civil unrest and concerns with travel, tonights match has unfortunately been postponed. All NIWFA fixtures on Wednesday evening were also postponed due to safety concerns and we are obviously disappointed with the disruption to the schedule.
Training is back on next Monday at Cheney Park from 7-8pm with Tristar due to visit Cheney Park next Wednesday all being well. We are still accepting new players into the squad along with potential U18 players born in 2009, 2010 or 2011.

DONAGHYS OF BANBRIDGE
PLAYER OF THE MATCH π
βΆοΈ KATIE MCCULLOUGH βοΈ
On Match week number 7 vs Glenavon the Banbridge Rangers Player of the Match was awarded to Katie McCullough for a solid performance as goalkeeper in only her second ever competitive game of football.
Katie is no stranger to playing in goals, but normally is kitted out with more protection as a hockey goalkeeper but has shown how transferable the skills are with confidence in her ability. The Women's team have been placed in a very high quality division with many players capable of playing in the top tiers and despite scoring in every game to date there have also been goals leaked so McCulloughs performance in keeping a clean sheet for an hour was worthy of recognition.
Katie is no stranger to the club as her brother Mark plays for the Men's Seniors while there was also a debut vs Glenavon for Sophia Gilchrist who also has two brothers, Matty and Dylan, in the First Team.
Well done Katie πβ½οΈ π

MATCH REPORT VS GLENAVON!!
Banbridge Rangers took on Glenavon this evening in a NIWFA League Match at Banbridge High School but came away with a defeat despite a positive opening period of the match.
It was a relatively even first half but Banbridge Rangers will have felt they could have taken the lead when Molly Hoey rounded the keeper but was left with too narrow an angle.
In the 51st minute Rebekah Archer was played in on goal with room to drive forward but the Glenavon keeper made a stop at the edge of the box when it looked certain Archer would open the scoring.
But, just a few minutes later Archer nicked the ball past the last defender and was tripped for a free kick almost thirty yards out. There was no mistake as the ball sailed into the right hand side of the net beyond the reaches of the Glenavon keeper to make it 1-0.
By this stage Glenavon had introduced two subs that were creating more chances inside a few minutes than they had throughout the opening half.
An equaliser from a cross arrived soon after with Glenavon sweeping in to make it 2-1 with just over twenty minutes to go. As Rangers tired and changed personnel the match became very open with Glenavon scoring three times in the final ten minutes to take three points.
Another frustrating result despite a positive performance with chances created throughout. There were some good performances throughout the team with a senior debut for winger Sophia Gilchrist.
Player of the Match was awarded to goalkeeper Katie McCullough in what was only her second ever game of foorball and is showing confidence with her handling and distribution and deservedly secured a first half clean sheet.
Thanks also to Sophia Hamilton from the clubs Under 10 Girls who was mascot for the match vs Glenavon and is pictured with the rmReferee and Captains.

βΆοΈ EOS Sponsorship βοΈ
Banbridge Rangers Women's team have now become the latest team in the Women's and Girls section of the club to be sponsored by Banbridge based company EOS Technology Solutions Partner.
This now means that EOS Technology Solutions are the main sponsor for EVERY female team in the club. Banbridge Rangers has girls teams at U8, U10, U12, U13, U14, U16, U18 & a Women's team to complete the pathway from six years old up to Senior Competitive Football.
The Women's team debuted in the new EOS x Adidas kits in May and will wear them for tonight's fixture vs Glenavon which is an 8pm kick off at Banbridge High School. The Women's team have benefitted from girls coming through the thriving girls youth setup and over the last few weeks have saw the support from the younger girls increase on the sidelines, which hopefully continues tonight with a good support.
