Michael HUGHES 'Mike'

Mike passed away peacefully at The Horton General Hospital with his loving family by his side, on 27th April 2026, aged 81 years.

He was the beloved husband of Sylvia and much loved Dad to James, Lisa and Richard.

A loving father in law of Lorraine and Gordon.

An adored grandad to Euan and Scott and dear friend to many.

Mike's funeral service has been arranged to take place at Banbury Crematorium on Friday 29th May at 1.00pm.

The family have asked that bright colours be worn if attending the funeral service.

T&F season is well underway and the events are coming thick and fast! 👀👀

Next up is the Oxfordshire Athletics Association U12 Quadrathon Championships on Sunday 31st May, hosted at North Oxfordshire Academy - enter at https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/110218

Alongside this, we'll be running an open Quadkids event for those not eligible for the County Champs (so U10 or out of County athletes) - spaces are limited, enter at https://www.bhac-quadkids.uk/

This evening (19/05) the Banbury 5 Mile Road Race will be taking place - starting on Browning Road at 7:45pm > Bloxham Road > Queensway > Broughton Road > Wykham Lane > Bloxham Road > finishing opposite the Easington Pub.

Please drive carefully if you are in this area, there will be up to 400 runners on the road so please respect our marshal's and back markers who are in place to help keep everyone safe.

Entries on the night are still welcome - head to Race HQ at Wykham Park Academy.

Great turn out from our senior athletes for today's match, and some fantastic individual and team performances too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Another huge thanks to the club members who turned out early to get the track ready for the day, officiated through rain and shine or served refreshments whilst studying for exams, and then stuck around to pack everything away again too! ❤️💚🤍
