Keeping Safe Online presentation by Michelle Johnson, highlighting the need to pause, verify and talk/check up when faced with any possible threat of dire action that pops up in your emails, if you don't immediately pay for more storage space via a renewal action. Check who is sending this threat. Check if you are covered already and if your cover is up to date, consider sending the offending email to a fraud investigating agency for them to take action.

Only vigilance and action will keep us safe. It is so easy to be taken in by such persuasive and fraudulent action.

Thanks to Michelle Johnson for her excellent talk # # #

April's Members' Meeting when Dogs for Good came with their mascot, one year-old perfectly behaved dog Harry and team members, Christine, Carol and Sue, with Harry, came to tell us the history and forward going activities for this charity. Members were very interested in their work and fundraising merchandise.
We had a very good meeting and lovely refreshments - an iced ginger cake, flapjack and fingers of Simnel Cake from Marks and Spencer's # # #

Our fundraising Burlesque and Cabaret event last night Friday 20 March 2026 which we all enjoyed very much indeed. Something new for members and their guests to enjoy, helping to raise much needed funds for our new Defibrillator purchase for the village we are hoping to fund this year. All 60 tickets were sold and to add to that amount a bar and refreshments stall provided a host of delicious savoury pastry items and our famous cherry buns, all willingly made by members. These gave more than a delicious sufficiency to enjoy for more essential funding. What the final sum raised will be is yet to be made known. Yet that aside, the evening's event provided a great deal of amusement and pleasure to everyone who in return must offer a huge vote of thanks to the organising committee and members who worked so diligently for this marvellous evening. And, of course, great thanks to our entertainers - Cream Tease of Oxford, The Divine Cabaret and Magician Paul for their wonderful performances # # #

Also, many thanks to Delia for her photos # # #

Now we are all looking forward to our Burlesque Fundraising evening this coming Friday 20 March at which Miss Cherry Buns and her troupe of dancers will perform for members and friends.

Delicious refreshments of cherry-topped buns and cheese straws will be served and a very pleasant evening is anticipated. We are pleased to say that all event tickets have now been sold.

Here is a photo of an earlier and very well received evening when Lauren Dean aka Miss Cherry Buns joined us for a demonstration of her skills, with Caroline and Janet joining in # # #

Our Adderbury Village litter-pick on Saturday 14 March which was probably the best day of the year so far, weather-wise . A group of enthusiastic members and friends gathered together at The Institute ready for our task in hand. Margaret brought the loaned equipment from Cherwell District Council - the yellow high-viz jackets, gloves, pickers and bags - which Sandra had collected the day before, intending to bring with her that morning but unfortunately for all of us, a virus had struck resulting in Sandra having to miss our event, which news made everyone feel very sad.

Our group split into several sub-groups for our litter-picking, and our plan was for us to re-group at the home of Ros, where we were to leave our bags of rubbish, and returned equipment, for its Monday morning collection.

I think we all very much enjoyed our village walk and here are two photos - of Kay and Margaret - from our Saturday morning's event # # #

Our Members' Meeting for March and our Annual Meeting at which our new President Maureen was chosen and elected. Our Committee members were re-elected, with some new members too. We also have a new Treasurer, Pauline, who has enthusiastically agreed to serve for the year ahead, like our President and Committee members. Members were all very sad to see our previous Treasurer, Debs, step down from the post she has
filled with great diligence and enthusiasm.

We were also delighted to welcome our WI Adviser, Kay Shortland, to our Annual Meeting whose help and assistance with our voting was, as always, much appreciated. Thank you Kay for joining us.

We expressed great admiration and thanks for the work of Sandra, our previous President, and we look forward to her continuing work with our local water testing duties we have been involved in over the last few years, as well as her many other contributions to our branch.

For our refreshments this evening, a glorious array of delicious puddings were prepared and presented by various committee members, for which we all gave great heartfelt thanks. Yours truly's only one regret for our evening was that we seem not to have taken any photographs of these gorgeous puddings, which we were thrilled to enjoy.

And then we became engaged with a fine quiz, organised by Bernice and Ros, with questions on various events and happenings of this past year, which brought our evening to a close with a bang!

Sincere thanks to all members who contributed to the success of this excellent meeting # # #
