Jay here 😀
Almost one week post‑op now, and recovery is fully underway. Going from distance running and 15k+ steps a day to under 500 steps is wild — a proper shock to the system. I’m still on bed rest, and when I’m out the house it’s wheelchair only, so the contrast is massive. I’m treating it like a full‑body reset instead of a backwards step.
It’s currently gaming, doing puzzles, and watching absolute trash TV on rotation. I’ve switched off every metric on my Garmin except sleep, body stress, and heart rate. No pace, no distance, no training load. Just the basics while everything heals.
I’m buzzing to be back, but I’m taking it slow. My post‑op team has been incredible. They asked me what’s most important to me on this journey, and the answer was easy: movement. Whatever shape it takes, however small it starts.
Ashlee's going to keep sharing updates until the end of the week, and then we’ll let the page have a wee break until I’m moving again. I hope you’re enjoying Ashlee’s side of her story while I’m out, she’s smashing it.

Today I want to talk about what calorie counting looks like for me....
I'm currently on a calorie deficit and have been since I started my journey in April. Not every day is perfect but I'm human!!
I use an app for keeping track of my calorie intake and it also gives me some too tips of what I can swap out to make the most of the "right" kind of of calories! As well as making sure I have the right mixture of fat and protein in there too!
A typical day for me definitely starts with a breakfast....sets me up for the day! I do tend to go for the same thing most days but I enjoy it and it keeps me full until lunch time!
My fave lunch to keep me full is a baked potato with chicken tikka in sweet chilli sauce and a side salad! Delissssssh! And comes in at around 500 calories (depending on type of salad and how much of it)
Dinner tonight was a delicious Gym Kitchen beef lasagna! Sooo tasty and only 378 calories... I then add a small handful of chips and salad on the side 🤤
What's your favourite go to calorie counted meals?

HAPPY FRIYAY! 🫶🏻
Guys....we've reached the end of the week 🥳
I'm feeling pretty under the weather 🤧 so the steps today will be from hoovering and pottering around the flat.
Sometimes it's just about listening to what your body needs!!
What's everyone got planned for the weekend? I'm hopeful to make up for the steps I'll lose today 🤦♀️

I've only gone and done it!!! 💛
My first intro to couch to 5k and I survived! With every run we did a WOOHOO and a high five!
I'm so proud of myself and a loved that I was able to join Jay on his last run as it's the big day tomorrow 🫣
Also some wise words for the late Dolly Parton 🫶🏻
Having a well earned break with my feet up now!
How is everyone's Wednesday going?

We've reached the middle of the week 🥳
So last week I told you that you'd never see a post on here about me running... well today that's going to change!! 🤦♀️
Jay has managed to convince me to give it a whirl so that is what we are going to do today... what's something you've done recently that is completely out of your comfort zone?
This is going to go one of two ways.. check back in later to see how it goes! 🙊

Happy Tuesday!
I've been up and out for a walk early this morning to drop my car off at the garage and get some steps in before the day properly begins!
I was listening to some of my favourite music and it got me thinking what does everyone else enjoy listening to when they go for a walk or work out at the gym?
Do you want to burst in to dance like no one is watching? Or sing along.... lol all of the above for me 🤦♀️

Happy Monday! 🫶🏻
What's going to motivate you this week??
I said yesterday that my pledge to myself for this week was to go to the gym or for a walk every morning after nursery drop off....so that's the plan!

A weekend well spent brings a week of content! 🫶🏻
I was too busy with mum life that I forgot to update on my personal best during my gym session on Friday!!!
I was able to increase my reps on the leg press and was able to maintain a longer session on the cross trainer which was a win!!
Sometimes it's all you need.. a small win! And the buzz after the workout is so worth it!
My weekend has consisted of the usual mama duties! And we had some fun with Jay, Dij, Gracie and Melissa on Saturday night! Freya's got a new pal called Baxter - he currently goes everywhere with her 🫶🏻
This weeks pledge is to complete a gym workout or a walk every day once Freya at nursery! Working on me... for me!
How is everyone doing?

This walkway pretty much giving me the same buzz I'd get walking down a plane aisle right now!
Taking the time for me today... despite the anxiety being through the roof Im showing up for myself!
So many people have been asking me how do I do it but I promise you the buzz from a gym session is worth it!
I'm warming up on the treadmill then going to try smash some personal bests so watch this space for a little celebration post later! When did you last get a personal best? 🫶🏻
Happy Friday gang!

Hello..... welcome to the takeover!! My name is Ash and I'm better known as Jay's sister 🫶🏻
As you all know I'm taking over Jay's Road To Fitness page whilst he prepares for the build up to surgery and then recovers!
I'm still pretty new within my own fitness and weight loss journey and I'm buzzing to take you along for the ride! I'm absolutely not going to be running just putting that out there...if I'm running there's a zombie apocalypse going on
here's a transformation pic to put a face to the name (for those of you who don't know me!) and to show you how far I've already come!
For me my biggest challenge was to get moving... the key thing was to be consistent with steps and then increase them slowly to make sure it was achievable! Conquering my steps was a huge win for me and I continue to keep at it... many evenings walking up and down our building stairs to not miss my goal!
Thanks for reading... stay tuned! 🫶🏻
