SEPTEMBER - the gateway to autumn 🍂
A season that gently invites a softening. A letting go of rushing in favour of a steadier rhythm.

In class, we often begin with Constructive Rest: lying on the back, knees bent, feet grounded, back body fully supported. It’s a beautifully simple, yet powerful way to help the nervous system settle. The breath steadies, the lumbar spine releases its tension, the whole body remembers how to let go, somatically sensing all is well in the moment.

I practise it every day, setting a timer for just 10-15 minutes. It’s amazing the difference it makes. Maybe this is your season to gift yourself that pause too - a small daily check-in to refill your own cup, noticing how it feels to be a well-rested woman.

What’s Coming Up:

https://www.yay4yoga.co.uk/schedule

• UNWIND - Nurturing Yoga for Women: Thursdays, 7:30-8:30pm, Deeside Wellbeing Collective CIC studio Banchory. Gentle movement to relieve tension, before supported restorative poses and lingering guided relaxation. One weekly drop-in space available.

• PEACE & JOY At FINZEAN HOUSE - Yoga Mini-Retreat - 5th & 6th December. Save the date. Booking opens soon.

• Candlelight Yoga and a Menopause Yoga workshop are also on the horizon.

Hope to see you soon on the mat.

Whether you’re completely new to yoga or have practised before, you’ll receive a warm, friendly welcome - with support to adapt as needed, tuning into what feels most appropriate for your body and mind on any given day.

“A savasana a day keeps the nonsense away.” ✨

~ PAUSE, LISTEN, RESET ~
💕 “Put your ear to the ground and listen hard.” This line, from Matt Haig’s profound and inspiring book Reasons to Stay Alive, stayed with me as I listened during a long drive to visit my Mum — mid-life sandwich very much ongoing.

💕 As we reach the tail end of summer, autumn is coming into view. For many women, this can be a season of significant change, with family rhythms and responsibilities shifting in all sorts of ways.
A regular yoga class can offer a much-needed opportunity to step out of the busyness of the day, turn inward, and show up for yourself in the way you so often show up for others.

💕 YOUR WEEKLY RESET
I invite you to gift yourself a guaranteed weekly time slot to reset, rather than continually pushing through.
If you are craving a little space from the daily responsibilities of life, I would love you to join me.

• 6-week block starts this Thursday, 20 August
• Time: 7:30–8:30pm
• Booking details and link are available via the link below
• Last 2 spaces remaining

💕 No yoga experience or prowess required!
Very happy to answer any questions at [email protected].

👋 Who’s joining me for class tomorrow evening - Thursday 23rd 7:30-8:30pm?

Expect a gently revitalising class, relieving stress in the shoulders, tension in the hips, lubricating the spine, allowing a softening into deep rest.

This week I have felt the strain of the classic mid-life sandwich, with travel, too much sitting, emotional stress and then trying to catch up on home life when my body craved rest. I’m guessing I’m not alone, as we typically try to embrace the summer “doing” alongside daily responsibilities as women. Yoga can help to draw a line in the sand, to reconnect with ourselves and press pause.

Gift yourself this hour and offer some balance back to your body; bring some ease to the mind.

This is a stand-alone class bookable by the week. This is a great opportunity to try a class before the next block of classes starts. No experience needed - whether you’re new to yoga, experienced or returning yogi, you are welcome.

~ 🦥 SLOTH YOGA! 🦥 ~
It’s so hot right now I was called to offer a theme of “slow like a sloth” this evening 😃
A favourite pose was a deluxe variation of forward facing savasana - just hanging out sloth-like on a pile of bolsters, cushions, blankets.
When the body is fully supported, the nervous system trusts it can let go of holding, tension… The mind stills. We more easily access deeply restorative rest.
Feedback confirmed the desired effect 😊💝😴
We closed the session in another Savasana relaxation pose, with a guided Cooling Stream visualisation - amazing how the mind really can cool the body.

No class next week, but we’re back 23rd and 30th July.
Book by the week. Use this link

~ RESTORATIVE YOGA ~
In tonight’s special extended session we took time. Time to gently release tension before tuning inwards, settling into deeply restful long lasting restorative yoga poses, with props galore - supporting, covering, weighting, hugging the body - all helping to down-regulate the nervous system and still the mind. “The mind can go in a thousand directions, but on this beautiful path, I walk in peace.” Thich Nhat Hahn
We lingered over tea and nourishing home-bakes - a lovely group of women across the generations 🤗 Thank you for sharing this practise with me ladies and making time for you 💝 See you again soon!
