In fact you donโ€™t NEED to do anything.

But if your looking for an optimal approach, this is a good rule of thumb, for protein synthesis levels.

The reason I highlight NEED .. is because

As long as you're getting your protein requirement for the day, ideally in divided doses, across split times eg. Not all at once - you will stimulate protein synthesis and hence add muscle.

However โ€ฆ if you stress, worry, or become annoyed if you miss a โ€˜window of opportunityโ€™

Putting you in a state of, overwhelm, panic, and annoyance. This leads to the body producing increased stress hormones and sending energy into the blood.

Making this your default state will lead to issues with digestion, focus,
gym anxiety, anger and body fat accumulation.

So โ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‘‰ Eat Protein
๐Ÿ‘‰ Be Consistent
๐Ÿ‘‰ Vary it across the Day
๐Ÿ‘‰ Vary the type of Protein
๐Ÿ‘‰ Donโ€™t stress to much about it

Whilst this can be occasionally fun, a break from the norm and potentially a novel stimulus .. the reality is that the boring gym floor basics superseded all.

As Iโ€™ve said here. Some of the most impressive physiques, lifters, athletes and competitors arenโ€™t bending the barbell in some crazy way your not .. itโ€™s a exercise, time and consistency game.

Now โ€ฆ. Hereโ€™s the gem ๐Ÿ’Ž

Notice how I say .. โ€˜betterโ€™ โ€ฆ.

This involves:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Perfecting Technique
๐Ÿ‘‰ Upping the Weight
๐Ÿ‘‰ Decreasing or Increasing Rest

Dude imagine this โ€ฆ

You have just completed the last set of your killer workout. Why would you spend all those hours training, only to diminish your gains (๐Ÿ’ช) by not feeding your body the proper nutrition?

Your body composition is largely determined by your hormones, and optimizing hormones through
intelligent nutrition post-workout is one key to high performance.

๐Ÿ”‘ Your body needs protein to repair the damage you have done to your muscles, and uses glycogen (energy) to mitigate high levels of stress and replenish muscle energy stores.

Post-workout nutrition will typically have TWO primary purposes in my head ๐Ÿง :

๐Ÿ‘‰ Flip the body from breaking down into recovery mode by initiating blunting of cortisol and adrenaline, and kickstarting parasympathetic recovery processes.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Decrease protein breakdown and Increase protein synthesis (to help you GROW!!!)

So hereโ€™s what to do:

1. This is the best time to consume a carbohydrate.

2. Increase consumption of easy to digest protein sources.
