MATCH REPORT โ Bangor FC Ladies 4-1 Ballyclare Comrades Ladies
Northern Ireland Women's Football Association Championship, Wednesday 3rd June
Goalscorers: Naomi Donnan 3', Olivia Marshall 31', 65', Amber Dempster 54'
Bangor FC Ladies returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Ballyclare Comrades Ladies at Clandeboye Park in the NIWFA Championship last night.
The Seasiders were looking to bounce back quickly following their Championship Cup exit at the hands of Ballymena United five days earlier and did just that, securing their sixth win in eight league matches.
Top goalscorer Olivia Marshall passed double digits for the season with a brace, with Naomi Donnan and Amber Dempster also on the scoresheet as Rory Hamillโs side got back on track.
It marked back-to-back home wins in the league, with Bangor having previously accounted for Mid Ulster Ladies in a 7-0 success three weeks earlier, and the Yellows will now look to continue that momentum with three away games in succession to come.
The hosts started on the front foot and led after just three minutes through impressive left-back Donnan, who bagged her second goal for the club to put Bangor in front early doors.
That was followed up just after the half-hour mark by Marshall, doubled the advantage and ensured the home side entered the half-time interval with a healthy cushion over their east Antrim opponents.
Bangor continued to stamp home their authority and made it three on 54 minutes through record goalscorer Dempster, with Marshall then finding the net for her second of the game 11 minutes later to all but seal the outcome.
Ballyclare โ who had been in strong form going into the contest โ netted a late consolation six minutes from time, but it wasnโt enough to spark a late fightback as Bangor held out for an important three points.
The Seagulls now turn their attention to next weekโs trip to Paddyโs Park in Dervock where they will face Ballymoney United Ladies in the NIWFA Championship, with successive visits to Strabane Athletic Ladies โ firstly in the Irish Cup and then in the league โ to follow that.
