Follow up message from Sensei Bill Mallett

It’s been a few days since I posted about a women’s self defence course. In that time the post has read hundreds of times.

In that time I have received no emails expressing interest. Zero, zilch.

This is a time limited offer.

An opportunity for you to avail of training with some of the best in the business.
An opportunity to provide funds to a charity that supports women. An opportunity to gain some practical skills to protect yourself and to gain a mindset that says says “not me and not today”

I have dealt with aggression and violence for most of my adult. I refuse to be a victim. Simple because I am prepared.

Are you?

If you want to learn then it starts with you.

Apologies accidentally deleted post on another page but it deleted it from the system totally. So will try and remember the hi -lights.

We are becoming more aware of the violence within our society. Everyday we hear of attacks against the vulnerable within our community. In particular the attacks on women and girls. The Chief Constable of the PSNI has made statements in the media about violence against women including recent murders committed

We, as instructors, do not want to alarm our friends and families of the club but we do feel that the way for us to deal with violence is preparedness.
So the question is are you prepared?

We propose to run a self defence course for women. This will be geared specifically for women and girls. We do acknowledge that there is violence perpetrated against men and boys but we,the instructors, feel that this is something we need to provide. A safe place to train and training geared towards women.

The course will be run over a number of weeks and will cover subjects such as the law and you, use of force legislation, situational awareness, threat assessing and various practical self defence techniques that are tried, tested and more importantly effective.

The exact logistics for the course is going to be dependant on you, the prospective attendees.

We ran a women’s self defence course a number of years ago for free. A lot of women attended for the first few weeks and then we ended with 2 or 3 for the last few sessions. People generally do not value something freely given. It costs them nothing.

This time we propose to charge a nominal fee of £20. However this fee will be given to a charity that supports women. The important part is you will pick the charity by consensus of opinion. And you will provide the attendees.
We will provide the setting and the instructors. That is all.

If you would like us to provide the course then tell us. The rest will be up to you the students and parents of Shinsei Ju Jitsu and Bangor Ju Jitsu club.

Any woman can attend there is no prerequisite of being affiliated with the organisation. However you must have a reasonable amount of mobility and declare any injury prior to attending.
So for those members who have access to this post, It can be your mothers, wives, daughters, sisters or friends. You can pay £20 or you can go further and create a sponsored event to raise even more money for charity whilst learning practical skills. The choice is yours. All that we need is the people to show up for the entirety of the course. Which will probably be four 1 1/2 hour sessions over four weeks. Unfortunately it will be a course for women and girls 16+ due to some of the subject matter to be discussed

I know everybody is busy and we all lead busy lives. The question I have is
how much time in your busy lives do you devote to your own safety?

As I have previously said we are living in a society where laws do not seem to deter violence so it is up to you to be prepared. Look at the recent incident in Bangor.

So you do understand the caliber of the instructors involved. They are some of the most qualified and experienced instructors you can find. With a long pedigree in the field of conflict management and self defence training. Honestly, you really don’t know how much of a resource is at your disposal.

So if you’re interested in learning skills that will help you deal with violence or potentially aggressive individuals or situations then let us know.

You can contact me at [email protected]

Please provide your name, if you are interested as an individual or as a group contact and a charity suggestion. Any personal information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
So do not register your interest on this post.

Like and share as much as you like but no personal contact information.

We are giving you an opportunity. An opportunity to learn practical skills and attain important knowledge. An opportunity to learn from some of the best. I do not say that lightly.
I can promise you this. You will learn how strong you actually are.
So do waste this opportunity.

Yours in Ju Jitsu
Master. Bill Mallett
