How did your morning start?
Mine was a gradual awareness that the alarm was going off and a groggy realisation that I was completely exhausted. We all have those days, right?
Today I was signed up for a salsa workshop - 3hrs of dancing and working on body movement. I considered not going because I’m all about being realistic and looking after myself. I’m telling my clients how important it is to focus on self-care. But here’s the thing, wellbeing isn’t as simple as one solution to fix all.
I might have gotten more rest and sleep if I hadn’t gone. But wellbeing is about more than that. I also needed:
💃Exercise - and dance is fun exercise!
💕Friendship - social connection is soooo important for wellbeing
💪Challenge - dance workshops aren’t just a physical workout but also a brain test too
🏆Accomplishment - you can see in the photo a group of people very pleased to have nailed the shine we spent the morning working on.
And now, I’m home and able to rest with an extra boost to my wellbeing and firmly committing to an early night and restful sleep.
I talk a lot about wellbeing and performance and the two being a balance - last week I used up a lot of my energy for work and travel, so this week I know I have to prioritise my wellbeing even more.

What are you feeling grateful for today?
Gratitude is a powerful emotion and finding different things each day to be grateful for can be a huge boost to our wellbeing.
Mine today were being in a beautiful alpine pass, the sunset glow, being with my husband () doing something we love and having the time to enjoy all these things 💕

Is it okay to turn back?
Whatever decisions we make in life means you miss out on something and most of us are susceptible to a little !
When faced with uncertainty and in this case a massive gap between the rock we were on and where we had to go, I just wasn’t up for stepping over the chasm.
Finding a balance between wellbeing and performance is what I do as a coach but when it comes to climbing I still have to remind myself to practice self compassion. We may not have made it to the top, but there are other routes and other days.

What feeds your soul? A morning dip before work certainly worked for me today.
Figuring out what gives us these little boosts to our wellbeing is so important but then we also have to make time for them.
I know that’s not always easy - so ask yourself…how can I do something that will give me a feel good boost today?

This is one of my favourite books! It never fails to motivate me. We all know that there are no hundred percent guarantees to achieving a goal but when we put the time, effort and energy it really does feel like anything is possible.
Working as a coach means I’m always challenging people to focus on their goals. What do you want, what are the obstacles and what’s your first step? Believing you will succeed is part of the process, planning for obstacles makes this realistic not just optimistic.
