So to you answer your questions? My bike was fine. My helmet got some big dents but no cracks. I would recommend a mips helmet. My glasses are scratched and full of blood. face feels like it’s healing fine. being in a cast is awkward. My helmet and glasses are going in the bin so now I’m on the lookout for new ones of those. Any suggestions let me know.

The early bird gets the worm.
It was an Alpine start this morning to dash in, grab an ascent of the North Ridge of Tryfan. We had to be back at the road for 11:00, so that Will could be home for an afternoon of parenting.
Good fitness, route knowledge and winter mountain craft, came together to make the impossible a stunning and memorable day out.
Trying to balance being a dad, studying a PGCE and being a MCI has been really hard lately. Being out in the mountains has taken a back seat, but today I got to feed the rat and swing some axes. Life feels better.
Thanks for the company Will. What a great micro adventure.

Alpine climbing…. Going to the Alps to climb is great, but it’s expensive, it’s a long way to go, they speak funny languages.
Come to North Wales it is great. Things cost the same as they do at home, it’s close to home, they speak a funny language.
If you want to go mountaineering, and don’t want to go to the Alps, come visit wales. It’s basically the same. 😝
Thanks to Rae for the company as well did a “Tour du Tryfan” Bastow Butress, Notched Artet, and down Little and North Gully
What’s your favourite scramble? Let me know below.

Cracking day at Tremadog, can anyone name the route?
We didn’t get a picture of the tree belay seat. But the bolts are excellent.

It’s often just about finding the right motivation. Trystan was desperate to go to the climbing wall today, and he couldn’t get enough of it. Usually I have to push for him to climb.
However, new shoes, snacks, and Paw Patrol figures that needed rescuing turned out to be the perfect combo!!
What motivated you to climb, let me know in the comments.

Chains, stairs, chains, knife edge ridges and steep drops. A short but serious section of today’s walk.
Working as an International Mountain Leader isn’t just walking through meadows and staying in mountain huts.

Slightly overcast today, not that it stoped us enjoying a walk through the high Swiss alpage.
Switzerland has some amazing hiking. This high village has a feeling of remoteness, despite being just a short walk from the train station.
I offer personalised hiking trips in Switzerland. From day hikes to multi day journeys. Get in touch for more info.

Great to be back guiding in Switzerland.
First and second pictures are from a recent hut trip to the Dent de Valerette. Third picture is a classic Swiss sign post.

Fantastic News! Common sense has prevailed to keep wild camping legal on Dartmoor!
Now all we need is a review of the CROW act to bringing it closer in line with the Land Reform Act (Scotland) to included wild camping in open access land in England and Wales.
How did we get to Dartmoor wild camping ruling? The Supreme Court rules campers can pitch a tent under the stars on the moor without permission.
