This brings us so much happiness. After our first Food Warriors Adult Cookery session on Friday, Albert made a loaf of bread with his Mam (who learnt with Louisa) and she said.
โHe did his loaf. And he took some to school for his one to one teacher to have. They toasted it and put butter/jam on. I think now weโre only going to make this.โ
Well done Albert!!! And His Mam! Making bread is such a skill and so much fun... And making food together, what better way to spend time.
His mam says.... โMy partner even favours this over normal bread. Iโm proud of myself even being able to show Albert this. All thanks to Louisa.โ
If youโd like to come along to the next session ๐๐ป book a ticket below.

TCR Hub is just so quiet.... When you come on a Weds between 10 - 2pm sometimes. When people walk in and say what a shame it is that the place is not used enough, we (staff and vols) want to say politely and warmly, 'Come another day and time'...
If you can get parked in the car park and we'll show you what's occurring! Thursday at the Hub:
- Pilates & Beyond classes from 9 - 12 noon
- Lakeside Beauty Barnard Castle treatments, from nails to massage with Gemma
- Physiotherapy appointments with Paul Eddy
- The mighty Teesdale Shed who also helped unpack the shop for the Teesdale Care Packages
- Lunch for the Teesdale Visually Impaired Group with singing entertainment from Teesdale School and Sixth Form school choir and quiche and cake by Louisa our community cook
- Social gathering and lunch for the Community lunch, hosted by volunteer supporters and catered by Louisa (busy day... Thanks to all who helped!)
- Enterprise Education day for 30 primary school children to enjoy archery, canoeing and high ropes (weather didn't stop them!)
And that was just that morning! We had BMX sessions with Hamsterley Trailblazers MTB, weekly band practises for Noctambulant youth band as well as The Channel 4 News Team, and several lovely sessions with the Teesdale Pottery Group Potters to play with clay ๐ TODYs were not in that night but will be back another week.
Phew! It's wonderful seeing the Hub so busy...
And it happens often ๐ yay!

Join Teesdale Community Resources (TCR) in Barnard Castle as a Trustee
TCR delivers a wide range of projects, activities and support across Barnard Castle and the wider Teesdale area โ from youth work, outdoor activities and creative programmes to wellbeing initiatives and services that help people stay connected across rural communities. Local community is at the heart of everything we do.
This is an opportunity to play a genuine role in shaping the future of an organisation that makes a real difference to people's lives across Teesdale. Our Board of Trustees oversees governance, strategic planning and financial stewardship, ensuring TCR continues to fulfil its mission and deliver lasting benefit to the communities we serve.
The Role
As a Trustee you will:
Contribute to strategic direction and long-term planning
Help ensure TCR meets its legal, financial and governance responsibilities
Bring your skills, networks and experience to bear on decisions that directly impact our community
Time Commitment
Trustees attend Board meetings as required (usually online and at least quarterly, with additional meetings as needed), an annual in-person AGM, and ad hoc commitments depending on organisational need, which can be shared among the Board.
Skills We Are Looking For
We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:
Marketing or communications
Fundraising
IT and digital
Finance
HR or related fields
Prior trustee experience is not required. We are looking for people with sound judgement, a willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to community life in Teesdale. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including current users and volunteers of TCR services. Building a diverse Board is a priority.
How to Apply
To express an interest, or to request an informal conversation and a copy of the trustee role description, please contact us at [email protected]
