⚽ AFC POGMOOR U15 WHITES 3–6 EPWORTH
A really useful friendly today against Epworth, who we’ll be competing against in the league this season, so it was a good test and a chance to set the standards for what’s ahead.
The 6–3 scoreline doesn’t quite tell the full story. We gave away three really sloppy goals through lapses in concentration, and it was clear that our discipline, organisation and focus still need work. That said, the ability in this group is definitely there in bucket loads.
There were some really good spells of passing and movement throughout the game, we just need to make those moments more consistent and make sure we’re switched on for the full game.
Tyler opened the scoring after a great assist from Archie and had a really good game down the right wing. Cohen got our second with a typical striker’s fox-in-the-box finish, before Bennie scored an absolute rocket from around 30 yards.
Harley had a strong game at right-back and was right in contention for Man of the Match, while Zack showed his versatility by playing in a number of different positions and adapting well wherever he was asked to play.
⭐ MOM went to Harry, who played centre-back for the first time and looked extremely comfortable there. He was calm, composed and very competent, which gives us another really good option and some valuable cover in defence.
There’s plenty to work on, but also plenty to be positive about. Once we get the basics of discipline, concentration and organisation clicking alongside the ability already in the squad, we’re going to be a very tough opponent for anyone this season.

🏆 POGMOOR U15 WHITES – GALA CHAMPIONS! 🏆
Another trophy coming home with Pogmoor U15 Whites after a brilliant day at the West End Terriers Gala! 🔴⚫🏆
We went into today wanting the lads to show their footballing ability, move the ball quickly and play with confidence. Across the gala, every player who came into the starting 11 played their part and contributed to a really strong team performance.
⚽ GROUP STAGE
Game 1 – Pogmoor 1–0 Pinfold
A strong start. We took an early lead and controlled the game well from there to get three points on the board.
Game 2 – Pogmoor 2–1 Brierley
We made this one harder than it needed to be, conceding a sloppy goal by our standards. We also had a goal ruled offside that looked a good three yards onside, followed by another being disallowed from a corner because the ball hit a tree branch! 😂🌳
The lads didn’t let it affect them though. They kept pushing and in the final few minutes we found the winner with a lovely finish placed into the bottom corner.
Game 3 – Pogmoor 4–0 West End Terriers
A really comfortable and mature performance. We stayed compact, organised and controlled, played some very good football and finished the group with a convincing 4–0 victory.
🥇 Played 3 | Won 3 | Scored 7 | Conceded 1 | +6 GD | 9 POINTS
🏆 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL
POGMOOR 4–1 PINFOLD
A rematch of our opening game and this time we really turned it on.
⚽⚽⚽ Kai – HAT-TRICK
⚽ Harry – brilliant header
🧤 Harrison – TWO penalty saves
Harrison deserves a special mention because he actually had to save the first penalty twice! After making the save, he was ordered to face it again for coming off his line… and saved the retake as well! 👏🧤
🔴⚫ A REAL SQUAD PERFORMANCE
The biggest positive today was that it wasn’t about one or two players. Everyone who came into the starting 11 played well and did their job for the team.
🧤 Harrison was excellent in goal and obviously produced the big moments in the final.
🛡️ Noah, Alex and Harley gave us a strong base defensively, staying organised and helping us concede just one goal across the three group games.
⚙️ Ethan, Bennie, Harry, Zack, Tyler and Archie all contributed in midfield. Different combinations throughout the day, but whoever came in helped us compete, move the ball and control games.
⚽ Cohen, Kai and Alfie all gave us options up front, worked hard and caused problems, with Kai obviously finishing the day in style with his hat-trick in the final.
That’s exactly what we want – not just a starting 11, but a squad where players can come in, do their job and keep the level high.
We dominated the gala overall, although there’s still plenty to work on. Towards the end of the final, when things started getting heated, a few heads began to go and some rash challenges crept in.
Being competitive is a strength, but learning to keep our composure when games get feisty and letting our football do the talking will make us an even better side.
This was only our SECOND run-out as Pogmoor U15 Whites, so to already be coming home with another trophy is a great sign.
These lads have already proved they’re tough and competitive. Now we’re starting to see them showcase just how much footballing ability there is in this squad too.
9 points from 9. Top of the group. Champions League winners. 🏆
Massive thanks to West End Terriers for hosting the gala and congratulations to them on winning the Europa Final. 👏
Another trophy for Pogmoor U15 Whites. The future is looking very promising. 🔴⚫🏆

⚫🔴 Match Report | Our First Game as Pogmoor AFC U15 Whites 🔴⚫
Today marked our first game since making the transition to Pogmoor AFC U15 Whites, and what a great test it was.
We came up against a Retford side that competed two divisions above us last season and finished comfortably mid-table, so we always knew this would be a tough challenge. That’s exactly the sort of game we wanted – one that shows us where we are and what we need to improve.
With only one substitute, plus losing Aiden to a slight muscle tweak and Noah to what looked like possible sunstroke, it was always going to be a big ask in the heat. We played four quarters to allow for extra hydration breaks, which was definitely needed.
The lads were outstanding for the opening half, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to a brilliantly placed finish from Kai. We matched them all over the pitch and showed what we’re capable of.
As the game went on, though, it became clear that not having played for a few months caught up with us. Fitness and sharpness started to fade, and the lads were absolutely running on empty in the final two quarters. That’s no criticism at all—it’s simply where we are at this stage of pre-season and something we’ll continue to build.
A massive well done to Harrison, who made an excellent debut in goal with several top-class saves, and to Zack, who was superb at right-back on his debut and fully deserved his Player of the Match award.
Every single player gave 100% effort today, and that’s all we can ask for. There were loads of positives to take from the game, and it’s given us a clear picture of what we need to work on to keep progressing.
Final Score:
🔴⚫ Pogmoor AFC U15 Whites 1-4 Retford ⚫🔴
The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. It was a brilliant first outing as Pogmoor, and we’re excited about what’s ahead. The effort, attitude and togetherness were there for everyone to see. We’ll get fitter, sharper and stronger with every game.
Onwards and upwards. The future is bright for this group. ⚫❤️🔴
