The club has now been up and running for just over 5 years, and continues to attract new players.

Back in the 1980's Barnsley had a legendary Judo Club, producing elite Judoka such as 1984 Los Angeles Olympian Steve Gawthorpe. However in 2009, head coach Eddie Newton decided to return Judo back to his home town.
