8 Years ago I didn't get the AS level results to make my desired career as a physiotherapist even a remote possibility, I was down and lost all motivation.
7 Years ago I was halfway through a BTEC diploma in sport and watched friends within my year group get the grades they needed to go and pursue there careers, university was something I had looked at but wasn't a serious option.
6 Years ago I accepted my position at Sheffield Hallam University on a Sport Science for Performance Coaching course, earlier that year the uni had rejected me due to my proposed grades, I followed up with them and made sure I did what was required to get accepted.
3 Years ago I graduated with second class honours from my undergraduate course, I had a full years worth of practical strength and conditioning experience through intern and volunteer positions.
1 Year ago I graduated with a Masters in Applied Sport and Exercise Science, I had 3 years of practical experience consisting of intern, volunteer and the odd paid position. I was leading on multiple programmes and about to undertake my first paid contract position.
Today I am involved in a profession I am passionate about and striving to do great things. I may be looking for a role but I know it will come, I owe it to myself and those who have helped me get this far to continue with what I have achieved. Many people I know in this profession haven't had things work out the way they wanted but they have persisted and worked to get where they are today. My results weren't great, I've felt lost on what I wanted to do, but I stuck to what I enjoy. I feel fortunate to have had the experiences I have had so far and me going down the route I am, but the truth is I also put myself in this position. Whether it's not getting the results or a job opportunity, keep putting the work in and your break will come. Likewise if you get the results you want, keep working to be better, there's plenty of people who are competing to get ahead of you.

Today is my last contracted day as Sheffield Hallam University graduate intern strength and conditioning coach. Having been a part of the internship for nearly 4 full years now this programme has been a massive part of my development as a strength and conditioning coach. From my time as a junior intern right through to a graduate intern I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of student-athletes who have made this position so worthwhile. As well as those I have coached I have also been fortunate enough to work alongside some incredible coaches and members of staff within Team Hallam. Thank you to those who have been a part of this incredible experience, I hope you have benefited from it as much as I have.
