Another huge game for the Poggy Blacks on Thursday night as we faced Poggy Reds in the second leg of the Challenge Cup semi-final, with everything still to play for after the first leg finished 4-4.

Two strong teams going toe to toe in a hotly contested game full of end-to-end action, quality football, great goals, and plenty of determination from both sides. In the end, Poggy Reds just edged it 4-3 on the night to book their place in the final.

Massive credit to the Poggy Reds, and we wish them the very best in the final against Pinfold Reds. Hopefully they can bring the trophy back home to Poggy. 🏆

While the disappointment is still fresh, we don’t want this result to take anything away from what has been an outstanding season for the Poggy Blacks. These lads have played some incredible football throughout the year, developed massively as a team, scored plenty of goals, and shown unbelievable commitment in every single game.

Win, lose or draw, they always work hard for each other, represent the club brilliantly, and continue to make everyone proud.

Heads up lads — there’s still plenty to be proud of, and this season has shown just how far this team has come. 👏

Next, we focus on the Filey cup tournament at the end of May.

Up the Poggy!

At this stage of the season, the fixtures are coming thick and fast, and the Poggy Blacks have certainly been put through their paces recently — playing 2 huge fixtures in the space of just 4 days! ⚽🔥

Thursday night saw us take on Kendray in the second leg of the Challenge Cup quarter-final. Trailing 5-3 from the first leg, it was all to play for… but these lads never stop believing they can turn a game around. 💪

What followed was a brilliant team performance full of determination, energy, and attacking football. The lads dug deep and completely flipped the tie on its head, winning 5-2 on the night and progressing 8-7 on aggregate! An outstanding comeback and another example of the character running through this team. Well done to Kendray for pushing both fixtures to the wire. 👏⚫

That victory set up an all-Poggy semi-final against Poggy Reds — and what a contrast in conditions between the two games! From glorious sunshine on Thursday evening to torrential rain on Sunday morning ☀️🌧️

Despite the weather, both teams produced an excellent display of attacking football, with quality all over the pitch and some fantastic performances from both sides. It was proper end-to-end football from start to finish.

The first game finished 4-4, before both teams went again in a second game that somehow matched the intensity and quality of the first — ending 5-5! ⚽⚽

Everything is now set up perfectly for the second leg of the semi-final on Thursday night, with it all still to play for. One thing we do know already though… there WILL be a Poggy team in the Challenge Cup Final! 🏆⚫🔴

Great to see the club represented so strongly and the lads continuing to put on such entertaining football week after week.

Thursday vs Kendray
Parents Player of the Match - Ezra - one of his best performances of the season, scoring 2 goals, playing positive attacking football, but more importantly supporting his teammates throughout the game.

Sunday vs Poggy Reds
Coaches Player of the Match - Archie - another strong battling performance from Archie.

Parents Player of the Match - Billy - positive attacking football from Billy helping to keep the lads in the tie.

🏆 CHAMPIONS 🏆

What a performance from the Poggy Blacks today to secure victory in the Supplementary Cup final - a truly dominant display from start to finish.

From the first whistle, the lads set the tone with excellent passing, relentless closing down, and complete control of the game. With some clever interplay, the lads took the lead, with Archie slotting home. Then late in the first half, a superb save from William kept us ahead at 1-0, but the lads were grateful for the half time whistle, but the togetherness was clear to see as the whole team celebrated such an important save as if it was a goal. It was a real turning point that gave the lads the energy and confidence to push on.

In the second half, the Poggy Blacks turned the screw and deservedly extended their lead with a couple of excellent goals from Billy. They continued to play with confidence, composure, and quality.

A late goal by Pinfold made things a little nervy, with the nerves of the parents on the sideline jangling, and everyone calling for the final whistle, but the lads didn’t show any nerves, in fact they showed incredible character, digging deep, redoubling their efforts, and closing the door to see the game out.

A performance that shows just how far this team has come - disciplined, determined, and playing their football to perfection when it mattered most.

🏆 CHAMPIONS!!!

A huge shoutout as well to AFC Pogmoor Reds u8s, who also brought home the trophy in their Cup Final today. An incredible achievement for both teams - a brilliant day for Poggy! ⚫🔴

Tomorrow is the big one.

After a long season of hard work, commitment, and togetherness, the Poggy Blacks step out for their cup final against Pinfold Pumas Reds. This group of lads have given everything to get here, playing over 40 games and scoring more than 200 goals along the way. Every training session, every tackle, every pass has built towards this moment.

The journey hasn’t been easy either. Showing real character, the team battled back from a first leg semi-final defeat to earn their place in the final, a testament to their resilience and belief in each other.

Standing in our way however, is one of the toughest opponents we’ve faced this season, so we know it will take everything we’ve got. But whatever happens tomorrow, we couldn’t be prouder of this group. They’ve represented the club brilliantly and earned the right to be here.

Now it’s time to enjoy the occasion, give it everything, and hopefully get over the line to reward all that hard work.

Good luck, lads - we’re all behind you 💪⚽️🏆

Yesterday marked the final group game of the Challenge Cup for the Poggy Blacks, as we took on Junior Tykes Blue in perfect conditions – sunshine, great energy, and a brilliant setting for football.

Across both games, it was proper end-to-end action. The lads showed real quality going forward, combined with determination and resilience when it mattered. There were strong performances right across the pitch, with everyone playing their part in an exciting and competitive set of games.

What really stood out was how well Poggy used the space, moving the ball with confidence and intent, and playing some excellent football throughout.

With the group stage now complete, we’re proud to say the Poggy Blacks progress to the knockout rounds! Next up is a quarter-final clash against Kendray over two legs – one we’re all looking forward to 💪⚽️

Coaches player of the match - AJ - A strong overall performance from AJ. Excellent vision to pick out teammates with inch perfect passing. Fantastic wing play, causing their defenders all sorts of problems.

Parents player of the match - Archie - Hard work is just what Archie does; he never stops working for his team. Excellent interplay and close control of the ball. Scored himself a couple of goals too to round off an excellent performance.

Another strong showing from the Poggy Blacks this evening as we took on North Gawber Clarets in a midweek fixture.

Across both games, the lads put in a fantastic all-round performance. There were moments of real quality with some brilliant individual play, combined with slick passing and great team interplay that was a joy to watch

North Gawber certainly made us work for it and pushed us hard at times, and it took some determined, last-ditch defending to keep us on top. But the boys showed great resilience, digging in when it mattered and grinding out two well-earned results.

A great team effort from start to finish—plenty to be proud of!

Coaches Player of the Match - Ezra - a great performance from Ezra, assisting 3 times across the 2 games, and scoring 2 goals himself.

Parents Player of the Match - Alister - another solid performance from Ali. Composed at the back, driving forward to support and scoring a couple of goals too.

1 more game of the Challenge Cup group stage vs Junior Tykes Blue on Sunday before the knockout stage begins.
