Barnstaple Squash Club

It continues to amaze us that we still get regular notifications and messages from people checking out our Barnstaple Squash Club page even though North Devon Council/North Devon District Council closed the North Devon Leisure Centre 4 years ago.

Hopefully this page is only sleeping and one day someone will consider building some public squash courts in the NDC area.

As there's no public squash courts in the North Devon Council area, we would recommend contacting the Atlantic Racquet Centre in Bideford covered by the Torridge District Council area.

We continue to be amazed regarding the internet traffic and huge of amount of interest and inbox messages we get regarding the lack of public squash facilities in the North Devon Council area since the old North Devon Leisure Centre in Barnstaple closed and was knocked down so all we can do is to recommend and suggest that you contact the Atlantic Racquet Centre in Bideford which is in the Torridge District Council area. It's been a very long time since North Devon District Council took the decision to knock down the old North Devon Leisure Centre and turned it into a building site for new housing with the public long stay car park almost a mile out of the town centre.

So if you were a stalwart squash player where do you now play squash as there's obviously no public squash courts in the NDDC area any more?

Are you travelling to Bideford to the Atlantic Racquet Centre or have you just given up?

As part of the Admin team we're constantly reminded about the huge amount of Facebook visits we get and the messages we're sent but since the local North Devon Council decided to close the North Devon Leisure Centre earlier this year, the only public squash courts in North Devon are in the Torridge District Council area at the Atlantic Racquet Centre (ARC) in Bideford. The only thing we can advise if you're looking to play squash in North Devon, we would refer you to contact the Atlantic Racket Centre in Bideford as sadly there are no public squash courts in our area since our local council closed the North Devon Leisure Centre.

We're gutted that we didn't have time to contact everyone regarding the last club night at the Leisure Centre however it's been suggested that it would be great to hold a social event at the Cedars Inn if they'll have us.

It doesn't matter if you played at the Leisure Centre, Cedars, Riverside or Fiddlers Green - you would all be welcome to come along for a get together.
