π₯BARNSTAPLE ABC SHOW REPORT.
ALEXANDER.....stepped into the ring for a skills bout against Borys Santowski from NSC.
Both boxers worked well, showing off their skills and looking comfortable in the ring.
It was a good performance from both lads and great experience gained.
Alexander is always keen to learn and listens carefully to the advice from his coaches in the corner. Alexander is progressing well and tries to take everything on board.
We always finish our chats in the corner with the same question:"Are you having fun?"
"Yes," usually followed by a cheeky smile.
At the end of the day, that's what it's all about. π₯π₯
GEORGI....overcame early nerves to put in a strong performance in a closely contested bout. The opening two rounds were very competitive, with Georgi landing some excellent shots and showing great determination.
The third round was equally close, but the decision ultimately went in his opponentβs favour. Despite the result, Georgi gave everything from start to finish and continues to show significant improvement in both confidence and skill.
A great effort from Georgi, who will be hoping for a rematch next season. Well done to both boxers on an excellent contest. π₯
KAI .....boxed a rematch against James Quilligan from South Bristol and came out with real determination and confidence, landing sharp straight shots against the shorter opponent.
In the second round, Kai landed some eye-catching shots and finished strongly with a great flurry of punches. The third round saw Kai continue to find his range, even forcing a standing count, but credit to James who came back strong and put Kai under real pressure in the final minute.
Kai took the majority decision win, making it 1-1 between the two π
DAVID.... took a major step up in competition facing Zac Eccles, a seasoned operator known for his toughness, experience, and relentless pressure.
David boxed really well in the first two rounds and made Zac work hard for everything. In the third, Zacβs slickness and cleaner work edged him the win.
We are very proud of David for stepping up and sharing the ring with someone like Zac. This experience will give him a huge boost going into the belt tournament π
ALFIE....started well and listened to instructions at the end of Round 1, staying disciplined and boxing at range as he went into Round 2.
By Round 3, both lads were feeling the pace, which led to a scrappy round with plenty of holding. The referee had to remind them both to box properly, but credit to both fighters as they battled their way to the final bell.
Alfie got the decision and he knows himself that his fitness needs to move up another level. It was a valuable learning experience, and most importantly, he enjoyed every minute of it. Well done, Alfie!
RILEY.... stepped into the ring to face Perry Yeoman of Swanley ABC in what proved to be an outstanding contest and one of the highlights of the evening π₯
In the opening round, Riley took his time to suss out his opponent.
Facing a southpaw boxer is not something he has encountered often, so he used the round to adapt and find his rhythm.
Rounds two and three saw both boxers go toe to toe, exchanging combinations and straight shots.
The pair displayed excellent skill, technique, strength, and determination.
A highly competitive bout.
Riley responded well to instructions from his corner and made it clear to his coaches that he was enjoying the challenge of boxing against such a strong and respected opponent.
After three hard rounds, Perry was awarded the win by a majority decision.
We congratulate him on the win and wish him the very best of luck in his upcoming belt tournament.
Riley left the ring buzzing after a brilliant performance, also gaining the experience to go up against a strong opponent.
Riley and Perry were awarded the Bout of the Night award. π₯
AKRAM......was set for the rematch against Finn Searle from Kingswood School of Boxing, he recognised what he needed to do this time to close the gap against a longer opponent.
Akram used his straight shots efficiently to make tough work for his opponent in an effort to close him down, his opponent did a great job at landing punches from a distance and timing them as the rounds went on.
Akram proved his durability and toughness after taking some heavy punches, unfortunately for Akram it was stopped in the third round.
Understandably disappointed, Akram recognises what is next for him to work on in the gym, no doubt he will be back and prepared for next season π
ERIC....faced a familiar opponent in malmesburys Jacob Liddington. The first round started fast with both boxers landing good shots, the second was similar and also very close, in the third liddington stepped up the pace and began to edge the end of the contest, brilliant performance from Eric in what is believed to be his last home performance
We are proud of all of our boxers, coaches and volunteers.
The shows and bouts attended by you all have been adventurous and have added memories to the club collection of madness antics π₯
Now, it's back to the gym to prepare for the events we have coming up next π₯
What a team π₯ π₯
