⚽️ U12 RAVENS PUSH STRONG VICKERSTOWN SIDE ALL THE WAY

💪 Hawcoat Park Ravens U12s faced one of their toughest tests of the season on Saturday as they welcomed an unbeaten Vickerstown U12s side to Hawcoat Park.

🔥 The game began with end-to-end action, with Arthur pressing well down the right and Ravens looking bright from the off. But it was Vickerstown who struck with their first real attack, as a deceptive ball flashed across the face of goal, evaded the defence, and was tapped in to give the visitors an early lead.

⚡ However, Ravens responded brilliantly and were level within minutes. Charlie played a clever ball into the box, Noah turned his man superbly and fired beyond the keeper to make it 1–1.

🚀 Shortly after, Vickerstown regained the lead from the penalty spot, but once again Ravens responded superbly. Noah grabbed his second with an absolute wonder strike, half-volleying from just inside the opponents’ half and bringing Ravens level at 2–2.

⚽️ And the turnaround was complete before the break. Charlie found himself in the thick of the goalmouth action and managed to steer the ball beyond the keeper and into the net, sending Ravens into half-time with a deserved 3–2 lead.

👏 It had been an excellent first-half display, with Ravens more than matching one of the strongest sides they are likely to face this season and creating opportunities to add further to their tally.

🌬️ However, the second half became a much more physical and frantic contest. With the wind growing stronger and Vickerstown applying increasing pressure, Ravens found themselves having to defend for longer periods.

⏱️ There wasn’t a huge amount between the sides for much of the half, but Vickerstown eventually made their pressure count and pulled away with a handful of late goals that made the final scoreline look more comfortable than the contest had felt.

🛡️ There were some huge performances in a Ravens shirt. Cooper was outstanding on his return at centre-back, producing a strong, composed and committed display against a dangerous attack. Despite facing plenty of pressure and the wind in the second half, Alfie pulled off some great saves at full stretch and kept Ravens in the game. Gabe responded to a tough penalty call in the first half to come back on and steady the ship at the back.

🌟 But Player of the Match today went to Elliott, who yet again was everywhere in the middle of the pitch, running himself into the ground, competing for everything and covering seemingly every blade of grass. He’s having a great start to the season and was a deserved winner of the award. 👏

💪 Plenty of disappointment at the final whistle, but plenty to be proud of too. Against one of the strongest sides Ravens are likely to face this season, the lads showed for long spells that they can compete at that level.

Todays Game of the 26/27 season for Hawcoat U11’s. It was a nice sunny but windy morning but we faced a well motivated, disciplined and focused Millom.

The full team showed great effort, teamwork, determination and put into practice what they’ve been learning at training

Hawcoat 3️⃣ v Dalton 0️⃣

Hawcoat welcomed Dalton to Hawcoat Park this morning for a BDJFL Cup game 🏆

After a close first 15 minutes of the game, Hawcoat finally got a hold of the game and started to create chances, after a couple of great saves from the Dalton keeper, Thomas opened the scoring for Hawcoat with a well placed finish. 💥

Second half Hawcoat played really well, Thomas adding a second to double our lead, before he rounded off his hat-trick (and his third hat-trick in 3 games!) with another well placed finish, to send us through to the next round⚽️⚽️⚽️

Lots of good performances today, Kian took some hits but battled hard for his team, never giving up, Reece was solid, and goal keeper Jaxon was calm on the ball, but our player of the match went to Dillon today who was brilliant in midfield, winning the ball, working back and passing the ball brilliantly.

Well done Dillon and well done Hawcoat ⚽️

The sun was shining down on Hawcoat Park this morning as we hosted the group stage for the Autumn Cup - on paper there was always going to be entertaining games...and they certainly were! 💥

Sebastian #1
Some of the best saves made in a grassroots game of football you'll see - in group game 3! Feet, hands, and scrambling. It was his! Superb performance throughout the games with his awareness and no fear attitude! 🧱

Jacob #4
Tracked back well and showed an improved composure on the ball. Looked to find the right pass and even had a dribble. Linked up well with his defensive partners. 🔗

Kobie #8
Ferocious in the tackle and battled for every single ball. Great link up play and drove forward well to create lots of chances. Unbelievable effort that was rewarded with goals this morning, in each match! ⚡

Noah #9
Solid and strong throughout all 3 games! Whipped in some beautiful crosses and switched play. Eager to want the ball. A well taken hat trick in game 1 set him up for a great morning! 🔥

Harry #10
Showed an eagerness to win the ball, battled hard and looked to find the right pass and then move. Made a great impact on games when sat in the middle with some great first time passes which allowed link up. 💪🏻

⚽️ U12 Ravens respond with impressive Tummerhill display

With the wind blowing in off the Irish Sea and BAE planes coming in to land overhead, Hawcoat Park Ravens produced an impressive Tuesday night display at Tummerhill against Walney Yellows.

Ravens started brightly, with Lincoln looking particularly lively before an unfortunate injury brought his evening to an early end. After a slightly nervy spell later in the first half gave Walney some encouragement, Ravens went into the break just ahead. The challenge at the interval was simple: be disciplined, do your jobs and let your football do the talking.

The response was excellent. Ravens took control after the restart, with quality showing across the pitch. There were goals for Hudson, Noah, Lincoln, Charlie and Elliott, but some of the best moments came before the final touch, with excellent movement, passing and assists producing some really well-worked team goals.

The goalscoring was rounded off in some style by Elliott, who stepped up to a free kick on the edge of the box and exquisitely curled it around the wall with his right foot, beyond the keeper and into the net. 🎯

Ravens also showed plenty of composure in a competitive game, refusing to be knocked out of their stride and continuing to play their football.

⭐️ Player of the Match: Isaac

A really composed and assured display at the back. Coming up against strikers considerably bigger than him, Isaac wasn’t fazed. He competed brilliantly, used his body intelligently and showed real quality on the ball too, including some excellent passes down the wing.

A really encouraging response after Saturday’s defeat and another step forward for this group.

Another promising showing from our U10s Rockets today, in our second game of the season.

Despite coming away from the game defeated the team showed great character!👏🏻

After going behind in the first quarter we entered the second quarter, managing to pull 2 goals back through a wonderful finish by Connie and a great penalty by Mitch - who showed great composure which sent us into half time still in it!💪🏻

We then suffered a few setbacks in the final 2 quarters conceding a few more goals but overall we came away from the game with plenty of positive! ❤️

Our players of the match for the game were Ed for his unbelievable debut performance in defence today with some vital challenges and composure with the ball at his feet and Freddie who kept our U10 rockets in the game in the second quarter producing some fantastic saves. 🏆🔥

We will take these positives into the Autimn cup on Saturday and look to make a statement to the other teams there on how far we have come.

After a wet night in Barrow, the skies seemed to clear just in time for Saturday morning’s early game, with Hawcoat Park expecting a strong match against an in form Askam U12 Blues.

And for much of the first half, there was very little between the sides. In fact it was the Ravens who got the breakthrough, and what a goal it was! 🔥 Huddy reacted brilliantly to a goal kick, trapping the ball and absolutely thumping it into the far corner from distance. The goal of the season shortlist is already filling up, just with September entries! 🚀

Ravens had a great chance to make it two when Noah raced through one-on-one and tried to lift the ball over the advancing keeper, only to see his effort sail just over. But Askam did not let that phase them. They responded with two goals in quick succession just before the interval to leave the game finely poised going into the second half.

After the break Askam scored an early fourth, although Ravens came back into it with Huddy getting his second of the morning. This time he took the ball past a defender onto his left foot before rifling home for a brace. ⚽⚽

But from there, Askam took control. With the wind behind them, they pinned Ravens back and made it increasingly difficult for them to get out of their own half. They were the stronger side on the day and deservedly turned the game around to take a 6–2 victory.

There were still plenty of positives for Ravens. Isaac put in another determined display, making some important challenges down the right, while Alfie was tested far more than in our opening two games and produced several excellent saves, including getting fingertips to efforts to turn them around the post. George, Harry, Gabe, followed by Riley and Joseph, also made important blocks and tackles to repel further attacks. 🧤👏

After three league games in eight days, there were understandably some tired legs out there. Our first defeat of the season, but plenty to learn from and plenty of positive signs as this group continues to develop.

🌟 Player of the Match today went to Hudson.
Coach Chris said, "Huddy has started the season fantastically with 5 goal contributions in 3 games, but throughout today he didn't stop running, trying, and leading by example. We know Huddy has power in his right foot, but his first must have been a 35 yard unstoppable screamer on his left!!! Then he added a brilliant second effort in the second half too. Well done Hudson! Keep it up!"
