*Barton (7) Epworth Town (1)*

Our U15 Girls signed off the season in style with a superb 7-1 victory over Epworth Town in an entertaining final game of the campaign.

The home side started brightly and were rewarded in the 19th minute when Libby opened the scoring with a well-taken finish to give Barton a deserved lead.

Barton continued to control possession and create chances, and just before half-time Libby grabbed her second of the afternoon after great work from Casey, making it 2-0 at half time.

Teagan also stepped up to play in goal for the team and confidently dealt with shots and crosses superbly, while her fantastic kicking from hand regularly launched our attacks.

At the back, Lily Andrew was an absolute rock throughout the first half, reading the game brilliantly with Maddie and Scarlett making sure nothing got past her as she helped keep Epworth Town extremely quiet.

We came flying out for the second half and produced an outstanding attacking display. Scarlett struck almost immediately after the restart in the 40th minute, finishing confidently after an assist from Imi.

Just two minutes later Scarlett was on the scoresheet again, this time with Maddie providing the assist as Barton moved further clear.

In midfield, Iyanna, Rebekah and Imogen were outstanding throughout, constantly intercepting play and setting up attacks to keep the game flowing with style and pace.

At the other end, Matilda had a superb second half at right back alongside a changed backline featuring Casey and Libby, who were extremely solid in their defensive work. A particular highlight came when Casey produced a superbly timed sliding tackle to stop a promising Epworth Town attack.

The goals kept coming as Barton’s attacking football overwhelmed Epworth Town. Scarlett completed her hat-trick in the 58th minute following excellent play from Lily Andrew, before the same combination linked up again four minutes later with an amazing cross for Scarlett’s fourth goal of the game, a superb header which was her first ever headed goal.

Maddie then capped off the scoring in the 64th minute after being set up by Scarlett to complete an impressive 7-1 victory and round off the season in perfect fashion.

Joint Player of the Match went to Lilly Atkin and Kaitlyn, whose hard work and willingness to step in for Epworth helped make the game possible. A fully deserved recognition for both players.

We’d like to take a moment in Volunteers’ Week, to recognise all the wonderful people who give up their time to support our young people in their footballing journeys.

Hours and hours are given by our volunteers - managing and coaching teams, marking out pitches, keeping our ground in order, arranging matches, paying referees, organising fundraising events, doing the books and a million other activities both in front and behind the scenes.

Thank you to all our parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours.

Without you none of this would be possible.

Thank you 🙏 Thank you 🙏 Thank you 🙏

The final went right down to the wire, with a penalty shootout seeing Barton come away with the victory 🏆

A fantastic day for the team, full of hard work, determination, and great football.

It was the tie of the season for the Under 13s tonight down at Pasture Road - Players v Parents/Siblings 🙌

And it was a really enjoyable evening with lots of smiles, fun and laughter…. For the most part 😉

The boys set the pace early on, scoring the first few goals and were comfortably ahead at half time.

But the parents/siblings came back strong and as the full time whistle approached the score was level at 5v5….. only for the boys to tuck away the winner and bag themselves the victory.

Well played everyone - boys, dads, mums, sisters and brothers 😁👏⚽️👍
