⬇️ MATCH REPORT Vs MALET VIKINGS ⬇️
The girls have started this season in fine form, looking bright and positive in training too.

This morning’s visitors arrived at Baysgarth Sports Village having won their opening 2 league games themselves.

After a cagey opening, Barton began to dominate through the middle of the pitch, Indi, Lyla and Nellie regularly winning possession, and Barton’s front 3 beginning to look a threat in behind Malet’s defensive line. At the same time, Barton’s own back 4 were well organised and started to get to grips with Malet’s pacey striker.

6 different Barton goalscorers etched their name on the scoresheet. The pick of the goals, 2 spectacular first time strikes by first Lyla, and then Ava from distance.
Aside from the goals, some of the passages of play and build up to those goals has been brilliant to see.
Lottie made it back to back hat tricks 😮‍💨
Barton Girls U15s made it 2 wins from 2.

PLAYERS OF THE MATCH:

🏆 Coaches player was awarded to Indie. Sponsored by Rebecca Beaton Accountancy Services & SGKC Electrical LTD, Indie came in for some attention from Malet. Proved difficult to bully off the ball, and makes such good use of it in possession. Lets her [quick] feet do the talking and had the satisfaction of playing a key part in the win.

🏆 Parents player was presented to Ava. Sponsored by Barton Building Supplies, Ava is settling into a new role in the team at right back, but with a license to get forward. Won tackles as part of her defensive duty. And from one of those forward positions scored a brilliant dipping lob from distance.

🏆 The fair play / contribution award was presented to Libby. Sponsored by T. CASS DECORATING, Libby would run through walls for the team. Has brought a fiercely determined and competitive presence to the left side of our defence. Was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet again 2 weeks running.

⚽️ FOOTBALL FOR GIRLS AGED 5-11 ⚽️
One of the highlights of our new Wildcat sessions, as well as watching girls taking their first steps in football, has been watching some of our under 15 girls coaching and training alongside our wildcats.

Some of our under 15 girls started playing football themselves from the age of 7/8 and are still with us today, now coaching the next generation.

We’d love to increase the number of girls in our current wildcats group with a view to launching new girls only Barton Juniors teams at primary school age.

If you know any girl, age 5-11, who would enjoy taking her first steps in football, and being part of our next generation of girls teams, please get in touch.

📅 Wildcats sessions run weekly (Tuesday)

⬇️ MATCH REPORT ⬇️
versus Sproatley Juniors U15s

The girls were back in league action this morning, making the trip over the bridge to Preston to face Sproatley Juniors U15s.

The girls were keen to get their season off to a positive start and looked bright from the 1st whistle, taking an early lead after Amelia placed a shot across the Sproatley keeper.

Barton looked organised and solid at the back, controlled the midfield and were ruthless in attack.

The girls finished the morning with
🔟 different players on the scoresheet
🧤 a clean sheet
And 3️⃣ points.

Credit to Sproatley’s girls whose attitude to the game was excellent, playing for each other and never looking like giving up.

🏆 Parents Player was awarded to Meghan. Sponsored by UltraFitness Gym, Meghan had a relatively quiet morning. But meant she had to remain focused for when she was called into action, clearing her lines and making one neat save in the first half in particular when she held onto the ball diving to her right.

🏆 The Fair Play/Contribution award was presented to Lyla. Sponsored by https://www.passport365.com, Lyla started the game at centre back, moved to midfield and then dropped back in at centre back. Her attitude to playing both positions was really positive. She also helped to s***f out Sproatley’s attacks, making good use of her body and had a key role in the clean sheet.

🏆 Coaches Player was presented to Maisie. Sponsored by Bronz’d Tanning Studio, Maisie emerged from the bench with a brief to shoot on sight, and scored not once but twice. Her first goal a really well struck strike first time across/and over the keeper. Her first goals for Barton Girls 😊

⚽️ WEEKLY WILDCATS GIRLS FOOTBALL (AGES 5-11) ⚽️

This Tuesday will be the 4th week of our new weekly Wildcat sessions for girls aged 5-11.

Under the watchful eye of our qualified coaches, some of our own Under 15 girls have helped to set up and lead the sessions, focussed on developing their football skills in a fun and relaxed environment.

It’s been great to see more girls taking their first steps in football, while at the same time some of our U15 players are taking their own first steps in sports leadership and coaching.

📅 The sessions continue tomorrow (29th Sept’) at the Baysgarth School Sports Village
⏰ 5.30-6.30pm

No prior booking needed. Just turn up and play.

🏆 SATURDAYS PLAYERS OF THE MATCH 🏆

A really positive response and performance against opposition from the division above.

🏆 Fair Play/Contribution Award
Sponsored by Barnetby Boarding Kennels and Becky Lennox Fitness, Nellie occupied the central striker role (after playing in midfield during pre season). Really positive attitude and would play anywhere for the team. Involved in the moment of the match when she scored direct from a free kick just outside the Malet box.

🏆 Parents Award
Sponsored by Rebecca Beaton Accountancy Services and SGKC Electrical LTD in 2026/27, Indie was a key part of a midfield that dominated for large spells of the game. Central to breaking up Malet possession and makes such good use of the ball. Won the physicality battle. Sight of goal in the 2nd half… goals are coming 👀

🏆 Coaches Award
Sponsored by JB Rural Services, Lottie was simply a ‘menace’ in our midfield 😆 Regularly behind a turnover in possession before a driving run at the opposition. Strong in the tackle. A complete all round performance.

⬇️⚽️ MATCH REPORT ⚽️⬇️
Game-week 2 was the opening round of the U15s Cup. After losing our opening league game last week, we hoped for a positive response from the girls, but against opposition from the league above, we expected another stern test 😳

Talk before the game remained focussed on winning your individual duels, your first 50/50 or first bouncing ball. Winning individual duels to win as a team.

Barton started the strongest of the 2 teams. Physically matching their Div 1 opponents and a midfield 3 of Lottie, Indie and Lyla winning the midfield battle.

To find ourselves 0-2 down, and against the overall run of play, was the only disappointment of an otherwise bright 1st half performance.

In the 2nd half, with the wind and slope now favouring Malet, Barton still maintained their momentum. But for a little more composure finishing, Barton should have found themselves at least back on level terms, continuing to forge chances on the Malet goal.

When Barton did pull one back, it came from a quite brilliant finish from Nellie, direct from a free kick just outside the Malet area 👀😮‍💨🎥

Barton continued to create the better chances, with Edie, Lottie, Indie and Amelia all having 2nd half sights on goal, but couldn’t force the equaliser.

Full time: Barton Girls U15s 1 - Malet Lambert YC 2*

*Editors Note: A 2-1 reverse against the same team that knocked Barton out of the cup 10-0 in the 2nd round of last season’s competition 💪

🏆 PLAYERS OF THE MATCH 🏆
vs Chants GFC Sat 12 Sep
A performance that epitomised our team ethos/values of character, resilience and togetherness, the individual awards for match-day 1 went to:

🏆 Parents player was awarded to Sasha. Sponsored by VDS Vehicle Diagnostics and Repairs, Sasha took an arm to the face from a corner but showed great character to bounce back in the 2nd half. Stuck to her task (Chants main midfield play maker) before then switching to centre back, playing 2 positions for the team 💪

🏆 The Fair Play/Contribution award was presented to Lottie. Sponsored by JB Rural Services, Lottie was a threat running at the Chants defence and as a result came in for some attention from the opposition. Showed great resilience to pick herself up from the floor time and again before eventually being forced off injured. Also won the award for fouls against 💪

🏆 This week’s coaches player is sponsored by Nettleton Mowing and Maintenance. In our pre match team talk we talked to the girls about winning their 50/50 duels. After being introduced at right back, Casey was rarely 2nd to the ball in the tackle, and when she was, she followed it up in the 2nd phase. Showed a brilliant attitude to not starting the game 💪
