Tournament 2 of 2 at Epworth today.

7 a side and we were able to field 2 strong squads in Barton pink.

The ‘A Team’ found themselves in the proverbial ‘group of death’ with the equivalent of Spain, Germany and Brazil in East Riding Rangers Blacks, East Hull Falcons and Hull City Ladies.
The girls covered yards and yards of ground in a performance full of spirit, hard work and determination to make it out of the group and progress to the semi finals. They “love it when a plan comes together” 😉

The ‘B Team’ found themselves in a tough group of their own with East Hull Falcons Purple, East Riding Rangers Reds, Goole Town Tigers and Rossington. A team full of character, a will to win and togetherness. A win against Goole Town Tigers and a draw with East Riding Rangers saw the girls qualify from their group with a game to spare.

A potential all Barton final was on…

Barton B took to the field first against a strong Division 1 East Riding Rangers Blacks. After falling a goal behind, Barton pressed and pressed for an equaliser. Competing with a side from the division above, Barton couldn’t force the equaliser. They’d made the whole coaching team proud and any disappointment in missing out on the final soon turned to cheering on their team mates in the second semi final…

‘Barton A’ started stronger and looked the more likely to open the scoring… but couldn’t force the advantage. At the same time, organised and disciplined out of possession, Goole Town Tigers never really threatened. And so the semi final went to penalties. The tie was decided in a moment of controversy… Goole allowed to retake their final penalty after the spot kick was originally saved by Meghan. A referee’s whistle proving the difference for a place in the final.

Over the course of the weekend the girls have come up against the very best that the U14s girls football class of 25/26 has to offer. They’ve won and lost… upset the odds… almost made Barton Juniors Girls history (with an all Barton final) and… most importantly… enjoyed it!

A weekend also of debuts in pink as we continue our preparations for next season…
Scarlett already looks at home in the side. A second coming for Libby who was a force to be reckoned with. And a return to where it all started for Abbie, a defender’s worst nightmare.

Every single member of the Barton Girls U14s family played their part. A proud weekend. Even if we didn’t have that all Barton final… at least until we settle the wager at training on Tuesday 😉

After their most successful season to date ended in May, the girls are continuing to work hard and keep up their preparations for next season on the pitch.

It’s going to be a busy weekend of football, yesterday being the first of two tournaments at Elloughton Blackburn.

The girls’ group was packed full of quality competition, including the event hosts themselves, Hessle Rangers and the East Riding County Schools U13s team so we expected a tough test but a chance to compete against some of the very best in our age bracket.

We might not have made it out of the group, but surprised a few people, and a couple of teams along the way, earning hard fought draws against Elloughton Blackburn and Hessle.

You were a credit girls 👏 👏
Next stop… another tournament in Epworth today 🚌

⚽️ Training Tuesdays ⚽️
The league season might have ended, but our preparations for next season and summer ‘tournament season’ are underway.

The girls have a big weekend of football this Saturday/Sunday playing in back to back tournaments. So this week’s training was focussed around tournament prep, quick counter attacking transitions, midfield cover/recovery and 7 a side formations.

We’re continuing to train throughout the summer as we prepare to move to U15s next season (School Years 9/10 from Sept’26).

💫 SPONSOR APPRECIATION💫
Just over 2 weeks ago we reached out to local businesses in an effort to raise funds towards a new playing kit for Barton Girls U14’s (soon to be Barton Girls U15’s) as they prepare to take on the East Riding Girls League next season.

We’ve simply been blown away by the response we’ve received in such a short space of time, and have now hit our target.

The team will travel the full breadth of the county, with players representing Barton, Goxhill, Brigg, Barnetby, Broughton, Great Grimsby… and even Kingswood Hull… so as a club we place great importance on representing those local communities and the businesses who have offered their support.

We know who you are… you know who you are… but we’d now like to introduce our brilliant 2026/27 business supporters 👏 👏

Thank you to both Barton Building Supplies and PAWS - Petsitting and Walking Services who took the final squares in our team name card 😍

Barton Building Supplies need little/to no introduction, a mainstay of the Barton business community for all things building and DIY supplies.

PAWS - Petsitting and Walking Services offer a local and trusted care for your pets, and always there when you need them. After just missing out on a square last summer we’re delighted to have them on board for next season.

Thanks to the kind generosity of our local business community we’ve now met our target towards a new playing kit for the girls next season. The design process is already in full swing… 👀 👀 🩷

Last summer we offered local businesses the opportunity to become our official shirt sponsor for the 2025/26 season by buying a square on our club name card.

After a ‘lottery’ style draw Nettleton Mowing & Maintenance were announced as our main shirt sponsor and within minutes of meeting Jon and Alison, they offered to also support kitting the girls out in an additional winter coat.

So we’re really pleased that Nettleton’s bought a square in our 26/27 draw to extend their support of Barton Girls U14’s 😊

We’re hugely grateful to Nettleton Mowing and Maintenance, and all of our local businesses for your support 🤝 🙏
