ANOTHER FREE NUGGET OF WISDOM

Unleashing the Power of Sleep: The Game-Changing Benefits for Weight Loss

Alright, guys, listen up. Today, we're diving deep into a game-changer that's been neglected for far too long: sleep. Yep, you heard me right. Those precious hours of shut-eye hold immense power when it comes to shedding those unwanted pounds. So, grab your favorite mug of tea, settle in, and let me break it down for you - the incredible benefits of sleep for weight loss. Trust me, you won't want to snooze on this.

The Metabolism Master:
Now, pay attention, because this is key. Sleep is the ultimate metabolism booster. When you catch those Z's, your body unleashes a symphony of metabolic magic. Adequate sleep helps regulate your metabolism, ensuring your engine is revving at full throttle. In simpler terms, it means you'll burn calories more efficiently, making weight loss a whole lot easier. So, don't skimp on sleep if you want your metabolism firing on all cylinders.

Hormonal Harmony:
Ladies and gents, let's talk hormones. Sleep plays a vital role in keeping those little buggers in check. When you're sleep-deprived, your hormones go haywire. Ghrelin, the hunger hormone, spikes up, making you feel ravenous, while leptin, the hormone that tells you when you're full, takes a nosedive. It's like the worst tag team ever. But fear not! With adequate sleep, you'll keep these hormonal villains at bay, helping you conquer those cravings and stay in control of your appetite.

Recovery Royalty:
Now, picture this: you've just crushed an intense workout session. What's next? Well, folks, it's time to let your body work its magic. During sleep, your muscles go into repair mode. They rebuild themselves, stronger and more resilient than before. It's like giving your body a backstage pass to its very own construction site. So, if you want to maximize your fat-burning potential, give your body the recovery it deserves. Snooze it up, and watch those muscles flourish.

Stress Buster:
Listen up, warriors. Sleep is the ultimate stress-buster. When you're sleep-deprived, stress hormones like cortisol go through the roof. And guess what? Cortisol loves to store fat, especially around your belly. So, if you're all about getting that lean and mean physique, it's time to prioritize some quality shut-eye. Sleep allows your body to chill out, reducing stress levels and keeping cortisol in check. It's the secret weapon you've been missing.

Mental Mojo:
Last but certainly not least, let's talk mental mojo. We all know how sleep deprivation can turn us into grumpy, snack-obsessed creatures. But fear not, my friends. Adequate sleep is like a magic potion for your mood and mental clarity. It keeps your brain firing on all cylinders, helping you make better decisions and stay motivated on your weight loss journey. So, say goodbye to foggy thinking and hello to mental sharpness. Sleep is your superpower.

Alright, guys, let's wrap this up. Sleep might just be the secret ingredient you've been missing in your weight loss journey. It's the unsung hero that deserves the spotlight. From revving up your metabolism to keeping your hormones in check, aiding in recovery, busting stress, and boosting your mental mojo, sleep is the ultimate game-changer. So, prioritize those precious hours of shut-eye. Make it a non-negotiable in your quest for weight loss success. Remember, sleep like you mean it, and watch those pounds melt away.

I feel it's always good to give a little back so here are some nuggets of wisdom.

When it comes to weight loss, one of the most fundamental principles is creating a calorie deficit. By consuming fewer calories than your body needs, you can tap into stored fat reserves and achieve sustainable weight loss. However, the quality of the food you consume also plays a significant role in your overall health and well-being. In this article, we will explore the fundamentals of weight loss through a calorie deficit and highlight the advantages of incorporating organic foods into your diet.

Calorie Deficit and Weight Loss:
The concept of a calorie deficit is simple: when you consume fewer calories than your body burns, it resorts to using stored fat as an energy source, leading to weight loss. To create a calorie deficit, you can either reduce your calorie intake through portion control or increase your calorie expenditure through physical activity, or ideally, a combination of both.

Advantages of Organic Foods:
While the quantity of calories is essential for weight loss, the quality of the food you eat also matters. Organic foods, which are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and genetic modifications, offer several advantages for those aiming to lose weight:

a. Nutrient Density: Organic foods are often richer in essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Consuming a nutrient-dense diet helps support overall health and well-being, providing your body with the necessary tools to function optimally during weight loss.

b. Reduced Chemical Exposure: Organic foods are free from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, which have been associated with adverse health effects. By choosing organic, you can reduce your exposure to potentially harmful chemicals, supporting your body's natural detoxification processes.

c. Lower Environmental Impact: Organic farming practices prioritize environmental sustainability by promoting soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation. By consuming organic foods, you indirectly contribute to a healthier planet, which has a direct impact on human health and well-being.

d. Enhanced Flavor and Taste: Many individuals find that organic foods have a superior flavor compared to conventionally grown counterparts. This can make healthy eating more enjoyable, potentially leading to increased adherence to a weight loss plan.

e. Support for Local and Small-Scale Farmers: Choosing organic foods often supports local and small-scale farmers who prioritize sustainable agriculture. By purchasing organic produce, you contribute to the growth of these communities and promote fair and ethical farming practices.

So in conclusion

Weight loss through a calorie deficit remains a fundamental approach to achieving sustainable and healthy weight loss. By creating a calorie deficit, you enable your body to tap into stored fat reserves. However, it is equally important to consider the quality of the food you consume. Organic foods offer numerous advantages, including higher nutrient density, reduced chemical exposure, a lower environmental impact, enhanced flavor, and support for local farmers.

When embarking on a weight loss journey, combining a calorie deficit with a focus on organic foods can provide a holistic approach to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. Remember to consult with a healthcare professional (such as myself perhaps) or registered dietitian to develop a personalized plan that suits your individual needs and goals.

It's been.... oh sooo quiet over here.

But it turns out I am human!

Things break!

Knees take forever to heal!

And the NHS waiting list is quite lengthy!

So I am attempting to be back!

Almost a year on crutches and still limited mobility....But I have been doing alot of physio and I think it's time to take it for a test drive!

I am still awaiting operation and by no means am "fixed".

Appealing to the any of my female clients or followers initially (Not being s*xest-please read on!) who are interested in boxing padwork.

I would ask the gents. But I am trusting the ladies will be able to keep their power around half, where as I know that us guys can sometimes get a bit carried away (I can never keep myself to 50%!);)

Since this month (June) I will be blowing off the cobwebs offering a limited time offer.

30mins - £15 (Normally £25)
45mins - £20 (Normally £35)
60mins - £25 (Normally £45)

Anyone who would like to give a session a go. Just drop me a message to the inbox and we can get your first session booked.

Push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise.

Push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable. lie in your garden, feel the sunshine on your skin.

Get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and sq**rt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else.

Stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything.

Buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.

Buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small.

Strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. wash, then hang them in the sunshine with care. make your bed in full.

Dig your fingers into the earth, plant a seed. see your success as it grows everyday.

Organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle.

Breathe. practice your deep breathing. ground yourself.

Have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck.

Push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog.

Message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through.

Think long and hard about what interests you. crime? s*x? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything.

Become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. help an animal. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends.

Lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes.

Take small steps to make it happen for you...

Ladies and Gentlemen.
Yesterdays annoucement was more sad news for the prospective reopening of Primal HQ.

Trying to see the silver lining that this gives me more time to redesign and refit the space to better suit my clients current and future.

In the mean time. If anyone needs help finding suitable equipment to create their own home gym who hasn't yet done so.

I can help point you in the right direction for Bars, Bumper plates, Benchs, Racks, Balls, Hammers, etc.

P.S. I will this was my home gym!

29/05/2020

EDIT: Current clients please see note at bottom of post!

Had a few enquiries about if I am opening in the next phase.

Unfortunately not.

So all this means is time to re-group and try and make things even better for when you can all come back in.

I should note that I could open outside the gym and do something from 2m away. But to be fair...we all love the kit. And boxing! So if we cant do either. Seems a shame to open on a "Body weights only" basis and charge you for it.

So any current clients who are running short on motivation or inspiration for their next lockdown workout.

Would like to offer this service free of charge to you all rather then try and charge you for the same service while keeping 2m apart!
