Online and in person coaching for anyone serious about strength training

13/07/2026

Hi Instagram - this is Jamie.

Small Jamie, to those that know him.

Last time he came to the British Championships it was 2024, and despite putting together a great total, he placed fifth πŸ™ƒ

But because he's a legend he didn't let that slow him down 🀝🏻

This year the u125kg CR class was STACKED with extremely strong dudes - but Small Jamie stay focused, determined, and locked in.

So here he is proudly wearing the gold medal he just won 😁πŸ₯‡

Nice one Small Jamie, proud of you mate. Who knew such a small guy could lift such big weights 😎

Fault vs Responsibility 🀝🏻

This is a very important distinction - just because something isn't your fault doesn't mean it isn't your responsibility 😬

You might have some very legitimate reasons for being in a bad place with your health and fitness, and if that's the case then honestly, I'm sorry.

But if you want to see changes then the responsibility sits with you.

But I have good news - it's never too late to start making improvements πŸ“ˆ

And if you want help knowing where to start, my DMs are always open 🀝🏻

So this is pretty cool πŸ˜…πŸ₯‡

This year is my fifth year attending the British Powerlifting Union national championships, but only my first year stepping on platform to compete πŸ™ƒ

I'm not new to coaching powerlifting - I've been doing this since 2018. I've coached people from complete beginner level all the way through to setting A/WPC world records, and I've loved every second of it.

I was more than happy to play the role of coach all these years and I never really felt the pull to compete myself, until last year. I knew I'd been spinning my wheels with my own training for too long and I wanted a challenge that I could work towards that would push me to lock in 🀝🏻

So I took the plunge and I entered a qualifier in March 2025. And here we are 6 comps later, with countless lessons learned, a handful of medals won, and an overwhelming sense of wishing I'd done this sooner πŸ˜‚

So this post is for anyone on the fence about whether or not they should compete. You don't have to be "strong enough" (whatever that is), you don't have to be ready, and you definitely don't have to be the best.

You just need to be prepared to try, and you can join a community of amazing, supportive, encouraging, and like-minded people πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

So what are you waiting for? πŸ€”

Day 1 of the British Champs went extremely well for these two awesome ladies 😁

Some more gold medals for Alison McGrath and Helen Sampson to add to their growing collection, as well as two tickets to the A/WPC World Championships in September 😎

Oh, and also Alison walked away with a casual 4 A/WPC world records πŸ˜‚ absolutely greedy if you ask me πŸ‘€

Congratulations ladies, immensely proud of both of you πŸ˜πŸŽ‰

It's nearly go time πŸ‘€

A/BPU British Champs 2026 begin in less than 48hrs and I am PUMPED to say the least 😬

Can't wait to share the platform with my team this year, let's go collect some shinies 🀝🏻

Good luck to all competing, see you all soon 🫑

If you only see value in the outcomes of your competitions, you're missing the mark 🚫

The PBs and the competitions are great, for sure. It's fun to show off what you've been building, and it's even more fun if that lets you win medals πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯‰

But there's not where the value is.

The value is in your daily habits, the repeated efforts you make week after week, the times you choose to do the right thing despite the easy thing being so appealing.

Those are the things that make you the lifter you are, and without those you'd never win medals anyway πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

So lifters - please stop putting all of your value into the competitions and PBs.

Challenge yourself to see the value in your daily efforts, and celebrate yourself for your smaller wins along the way πŸ™ŒπŸ»

This sport is unforgiving enough as it is, don't make it worse for yourself πŸ™ƒ

πŸ’₯ A/WPC European Championships 2026 πŸ’₯

Had an awesome time competing alongside James in Limerick last week πŸ’ͺ🏻

I always love sharing the platform with clients, and this was no different.

Both of us hit full power on Tuesday, and then the absolute medal hogger James Brodie stayed on for single lift bench AND deadlift at the weekend, meaning he brought home 3 shinies and made my one shiny look bad πŸ™ƒ

It's fine, I'm not bitter about it πŸ€₯

In all seriousness though, a huge well done to Mr Brodie for this one. After coming back from a hernia operation late last year he put up some fantastic numbers and smashed three competitions within 5 days. Not an easy task!

Off season time for James now, time to build a huge foundation and get ready to prep for competitions next year πŸ‘ŠπŸ»

As for me, 4 weeks out from Brits 🫠 who needs rest anway πŸ˜‚

Huge well done to for a great performance yesterday πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Went 9 for 9, made our planned lifts look way too easy, and even overshot our goal by 10kg in the end 🀯

Can't ask for a better day than that! Another team WTP member qualified for the British champs, it's gonna be a big big year for the squad 😎
