Lighting installation begins...
Columns delivered, trenches dug, cables laid.
A great team from Highlights Floodlighting Ltd

08/10/2026

We will be starting the installation of court floodlighting on Monday 12 October, and there will be contractors working at the club and the surrounding areas of the rec during the week.

Court 1 will be available to book but courts 2-4 will be unavailable all of that week. Please be considerate of any workers at the club, be careful around any machinery or equipment and be aware that the power to the club is likely to be switched off at various times.

On Monday morning, the 10m columns will be delivered to the club. An articulated lorry will be parked at the Bolton Arms (thank you Andy and Ali) from where the columns will be moved up Riley Lane to the club. We expect the lorry to arrive about 10am and it should take about half an hour or so to move the columns up the lane to the club, during which time it will not be possible to drive up the lane.

Many thanks to everyone for your support for this exciting project. We couldn't have done it without you 🙏🎾💡

Congratulations to our amazing Chair, Nigel Hatt, who received the most votes in our annual event to nominate the member who has made a significant contribution to the club this year. Nigel deservedly received the most votes from our members for the considerable time and effort he puts in to making this such a great club.

These are some of the comments received from our members:
'The club has gone from strength to strength in recent years, thanks in no small part to the time and effort Nigel puts in. He always makes everyone feel welcome and has helped the club grow and become such an enjoyable club to be part of. He has also played an important role in finally getting approval for the court lights'.
'Nigel has made a huge contribution to the club finally getting lights. He thoroughly deserves recognition for the enormous effort, the hundreds of hours of work, the battle against objections and bureaucracy and his commitment to the cause should never be forgotten'.
'I nominate Nigel Hatt for the Betty Holmes Award for his outstanding effort and dedication to our club'.
'He is an excellent chair who has overseen the negotiations with the Parish Council for the floodlighting with diplomacy and patience. I don't think we would have achieved this result without him'.
'He has steered the club through some choppy waters and manages to deal with difficult situations with support, empathy and positivity, whilst keeping the members and future of the club at the core of all his decisions'.
'I don't think the majority of members understand or appreciate the amount of work that Nigel puts into keeping everything at the club running smoothly'.

Well done Nigel and thank you for everything you have done for the club!
