This photo was taken only a few minutes after you made me a mum, little one. A few moments after I was reborn too. The most astounding moment of my life. You are, by far, my proudest moment and my greatest achievement.
Hereβs to all the other mums out there, of all different kinds. Incredibly strong women quietly persevering, bound together by the selfless kind of love that motherhood teaches you. Whether youβre still waiting to hold your babies, missing your babies or totally overwhelmed by your babies (because they ARE mental π€£π€£) youβre doing a great job, and the world is so lucky to have mothers, full stop.

First off, no, you absolutely do not need to avoid exercise in your first trimester.ββββββββ

If you are familiar with the exercise youβre doing, itβs something you enjoy and you feel up to it then go for it!ββββββββ

Equally, if you canβt think of anything worse than exercising - donβt worry! You can come back to exercise whenever you feel motivated and able.ββββββββ

Tips for safe pregnancy exercise -ββββββββ

βοΈ Avoiding working to your max - try whatever youβre doing at about 70% effort & always make sure you have something left in the tankββββββββ

βοΈ Stay hydrated - youβll need to take on more water than you usually do, so come prepared ββββββββ

βοΈ Avoid excessive twisting motions, long isometric holds and (later in pregnancy) big crunching motionsββββββββ

βοΈ Donβt bang the bump. And for that reason, generally speaking, unless you are a professional athlete who has been advised otherwise by their own team, you should avoid high risk & contact sports - gymnastics, horse riding, rugby etc. ββββββββ

Most of all, listen to your body. Exercise to feel good and if it doesnβt make you feel good, donβt do it. β¨ ββββββββ

π I HAVE A NEW BABY

Yesterday was officially Day 1 of and honestly it felt so good to be back doing my instructor thing (accompanied by a banging playlist ofc)

Feels like now that that big hurdle has been crossed and Iβm officially βin itβ now, I can maybe actually enjoy the rest of week 1 knowing that weβre up and running and itβs really happening!

Ngl I was slightly nervous and wondered if Iβd be a bit rusty or just feel a bit anxious leading the class AND having to think about all the behind the scenes things but actually I loved it!

It was also my first time properly working away from the Small as heβs always come to class with me before π«£ I was a bit emosh as I walked away but Iβm glad I followed all the advice and just ripped the plaster off and didnβt linger - apparently he was absolutely fine and when I picked him up again only 2 hours later he was fast asleep π€£ success!

πDONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT
Itβs so easy to sabotage yourself before youβve even tried.
βI wonβt get a full hour inβ
βI wonβt try press ups because theyβre hard and I canβt do themβ
βI canβt afford nice/new workout gearβ
βIβll only get interrupted if I startβ
But 10 minutes is better than nothing.
And one good solid attempt at a press up is the first stepping stone to smashing out 10 without even breaking a sweat.
And doing any movement in whatever clothes you have is better than waiting until you buy something new.
Chipping away at the seemingly huge, intimidating ones that are far off in the distance is the best way of achieving those massive goals that give you a huge sense of pride and achievement once youβve FINALLY mastered a new skill, seen an improvement in your fitness and your confidence.
Donβt wait - todays a great new starting point. Just do what you can.
