Introducing our next general committee member, Oscar Martin!

Oscar is a second year Maths student, but don’t let his serious course fool you. A keen CX racer, you will often find Oscar practicing his skills on one wheel or grabbing KOMs in Bath and Northamptonshire. Fancy a late night spin? Oscar’s your man.

Strengths
- Bike skills
- Hunting KOMs
- Gravel

Weaknesses
- Avoiding eggs whilst drunk
- No house this year :(

-Jamie

Introducing this year’s first general committee member Toby Thorogood!

Toby is in his final year of Sports Science and has successfully infiltrated from the triathlon club. As a veteran of the club he has seen battle experience in all of cycling’s aspects: Hill climbs, criteriums, track, and he certainly knows his way around a crash.

He may not be able to suffer in training for the next few weeks but expect him to still be drinking away his pain at the socials.

Strengths:
Suffering on climbs
Bucs duathlon
Golf???

Weaknesses:
Left collar bone
Choppy triathlete allegations

Introducing our events coordinator - Luka Cherriman! Luka is going into his third year doing Aerospace Engineering, and it shows. He will be passing these skills onto organising some brilliant races and events this year. You will find Luka doing hill reps in the mountains of Bath, but only for a moment before being dropped. Famously faster than Andrew Feather, he doesn’t just carry the club with his legs but also with la passion.

Strengths
Making you regret the winter bulk
Finding nice roads
Having a Giant Trinity

Weaknesses
BUCS road-races
London

Introducing this year's Social sec - Tom Royde!

Tom is going into his second year of Politics with Economics, and he will be organising us some great socials this year.

If you can't find him in the pub he's probably doing laps at Odd down.

Strengths:
Strava chat
Never getting bored of Richmond park or Odd down

Weaknesses:
Putting his chain on correctly
Kit that isn't PNS

- Oscar

Sam Nisbet – the new Road Captain and a 4th year doing Civil Engineering! He’ll either be up the road making you question your fitness, or circling Jersey until the tarmac gives way. Nationals, locals, training loops – if it’s got two wheels, Sam’s probably already ridden it faster than you.

Strengths
Relentless speed
Surviving on less water than a cactus
Knowing the island roads better than Google Maps

Weaknesses
Cake (still undefeated)
Coffee avoidance continues
Believes tuna mayo pasta counts as a food group

- Alex.

Announcing the new Off-road Captain - Alex Tydeman.

Alex is a 2nd year Mech Engineering student who has a crippling addiction to E-scooters and hasn’t yet figured out the part of biking where you don’t crash.

He will eat your lunch on a ride, nearly die of dehydration, and find a weird gap that probably isn’t doable. A ride for Alex is just finding a new route to the pub.

Strengths:
Will teach you how to tow a bike with an E-scooter
Has now installed a bottle cage
Knows the local trails well

Weaknesses:
Not good at planning for a ride
Decides to ride and build trails instead of studying

Check out mini Alex at the end!

- Harry

Introducing this year’s treasurer: Finn Hawkins!

While Finn is an ex youth racer his Strava now mainly consists of journeys home from nights out, often accompanied with an interesting debrief.
He also loves to ride when there’s uni work to be avoiding - a short revision break ride can easily take up the whole afternoon if you sit at the cafe for two hours!
Maybe if he spends less time partying and more time riding this year he won’t have to push his bike up Miserat again…

Strengths:
Descending (on the rare occasion he has functioning brakes)
Providing entertaining Strava content

Weaknesses:
Cocktails
Making poor life choices when drunk

- Claudia

Meet your 25/26 UOBCC chair, Jamie Forsyth!!!!

Going into his 4th year at the Uni of Bath, Jamie has a lot of experience within the cycling club but also some triathlon experience too 🤨

You’ll be seeing Jamie at all the events we’ll be doing this year whether that’s socials group rides or races and I’m sure he’ll make his return to Calpe this year after missing the last trip due to Toto Wolff not allowing him time off work.

Jamie’s strengths are:
* Instagram reels
* Descending
* Staying late at work

Jamie’s weaknesses are:
* living in Northampton
* That corner in Timsbury
