“Women's Spring Meeting
Another unseasonal day for the Spring Meeting, with registration moved inside, Mercedes needing a chamois leather and Captain Mike with umbrella in hand for the starting.
At least we dodged much of the rain that had been forecast and 50 players braved the tough conditions.

Collecting silverware at the prize giving tea were:
Spring Meeting Trophy (best gross score) - Andrea Phillips
Anderson Bowl (best nett score hcps 25) - Jan Scilly
Hilda Breakwell Place (best nett score >75yrs - Jan Scilly

Other winners on the day were:
9 Hole stableford competition - Fay Galley
Longest Drive - Sara Deverell
Straightest Drive - Marion Cowley
Nearest the Pin on 14 - Stephanie Moorfoot”

St George’s Mixed Greensomes Competition - Sunday 26 April

Ten Pairs competed for the St George’s Mixed Greensomes Competition on Sunday afternoon, in glorious weather.

Emerging victorious were Helen Oliver and Maurice Paterson, with 44 points, followed in second place by Suzannah Angelo-Sparling and Mark Daniels with 40 points.
Ann Henderson and Steve Ford were third with 36 points.
Only one couple completed a hole in two strokes - Laura and Tim Cutter on the 11th hole - and very nearly got a hole in one - see photo!

“Spring Mixed Greensomes Competition on Sunday 22 March

Twenty-six pairs competed for the Spring Mixed Greensomes Competition on Sunday afternoon in the first mixed Sunday competition of the season.

Emerging victorious were Mickey and Mark Edward’s with 41 points, ahead of Deborah and Gary McArdle in second place on countback with 41 points and Marion and David McBirnie in third place also on countback with 41 points.

Three couples scored a 2 on one hole - Carol England and Kim Swithinbank; Stephanie Moorfoot and Mark Moorfoot; Jenny Conway and Mike Frude.”

CAPTAINS RAISE £6,498 FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST

The donation cheque was presented at the Club’s Trophy Presentation evening on Friday 14th November.

MIKE WEAVER TROPHY WINNERS 2025

Sunday 9th November

Twenty pairs competed for the Mike Weaver Trophy last Sunday afternoon in the last mixed Sunday competition of the season.

Emerging victorious were newcomers Tricia and Michael Symons with a fantastic 46 points! Four ahead of Jan Tope and Mike Charlton in second place and Philippa and Phil Bevan in third on 41 points.

Tricia & Michael also scored the only two of the afternoon on the 14th hole.

HOLE IN ONE

Our Congratulations go to Jerry Shrubb, who achieved a Hole in One at the 14th.
Jerry was playing in the Saturday 4BBB competition on the 25th October with Stuart Gall, James Portman and Phil Callan.
We understand the whisky provided was well received in the bar afterwards!

“Jo Jolliffe is the 2025 Women’s Champion! (Gross 171)

Jo also won the Meek Salver for the best nett in the Championship (nett 137)

Well done Jo for playing 2 wonderful rounds of golf!

The Women's Championship was a great success with sunshine, good scores, and sausages.
