And finally, don’t forget Rule 20 // There are only three remedies for pain. These are:
If your quads start to burn, shift forward to use your hamstrings and calves, or
If your calves or hamstrings start to burn, shift back to use your quads, or
If you feel wimpy and weak, meditate on Rule #5 and train more!

Inter Corps Champs last week at Odd Down Cycle Circuit in Bath.

As the reigning champions from 2024 and after a strong season on the road the team rolled in with hopes of fighting it out to finish near the front again. The goal of course is always to win but we knew that realistically the goal was 2nd as the Men’s Army Road team turned up in their Infantry kit and with the REME missing some of its strongest riders the likes of Bev, Paul and Cammie to name a few!

The day started well with 2 REME ladies getting round safely for their first time out in REME colours Evie and Becky πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ‘ chapeau

In the support race Big Stevie P took third and another podium for him to end the year with a great ride! 🀝πŸ₯‰

In the main event the team started fantastically taking 1st and 2nd in the first prime, and 1st in the second, but from then onwards the Infantry’s strength in depth came to the front with attack after attack pulling them back to see the next one go till eventually one was let away πŸ˜…
The guys were working well at the front to keep a tempo on and just watching / following the PT corps in the battle for 2nd position.
As the rain and wind came in and the last few laps were done the bell lap rang and another infantry attack sprung but with Watty in the wheels he was able to come around and out sprint the two Infantry riders to cross the line in 2nd position πŸ₯ˆ closely followed by Jimmy, Wilson and Steve in what was left of the bunch.

2nd place for the Corps on the day a great result against a super strong field πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ₯³

ACRRS awards were also presented at the end of the day with taking the overall win in the juniors in his first season of ACRRS backing up why he won the REME’s rising star ⭐ award this year!

Izzy B taking 2nd πŸ₯ˆ overall in the Female Juniors again in her first season on the road πŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€

Stevie B taking the overall win in the Grand Masters πŸ‘΄πŸΌπŸ€

Watty retained his overall Open Champion title from 2024 πŸ†πŸ†πŸ˜πŸ€

With teammate Wilson taking 2nd in the overall Open πŸ₯ˆπŸ˜πŸ€

ACRRS RD 7 Colchester

Final round of the 2025 ACRRS with 2nd place for the REME all but guaranteed and the ITT cancelled leaving not enough points available to take the lead it was due to be a wet and windy affair, with that weather forecast the races were all shuffled forward to avoid the rain 🀞great shout from the organisers enabling the racing to go ahead πŸ‘

Jaye and James got round in Female / C race πŸ₯³

Harry, Timmy, Mike, Taff, Henry and Luke getting round safely and dry scoring some well earned points for the Corps! πŸ₯³

In the A league Watty forced a breakaway with an Inf Army Road team rider to be soon joined by two other Inf Army Road Team riders πŸ˜…
That group went away and stayed away with both Steve and Wilson in the next group to get away from the main peloton cat and mousing in the gap with 1 Inf and 1 PT Corps rider.
After working well in the front group Watty was left on the front for the final lap and hitting the final corner on the front immediately opened up a very early sprint and held it all the way to the line holding off the Inf Army Road team riders taking the win πŸ₯‡
With the podium positions gone and Steve and Wilson still in no mans land but holding off the chasing peloton they managed to stay away taking 5th and 6th πŸ₯³

Another fantastic result for the Corps being outnumbered by the Inf 3-1 at almost every round and running it almost all the way to end! Chapeau to everyone that’s taken part this season πŸ‘πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

With Rd 7 at Colchester around the corner
Flashback to Rd6 at the Brownlee Centre Leeds
With Stevie B taking 1st place on the 1st Sprint Prime, Watty taking 2nd and carrying on with a TT off the front staying away to take 1st place on the 2nd Sprint Prime, fillowed by Wilson who took 3rd and 2nd at the Primes scoring a large haul of points for the Corps!
After coming back to the bunch Watty and Steve set a tempo on the front with Wilson closing attacks which left the opportunity for Jimmy to attack in the final laps taking Dave from the PT Corps with him, Gurung also from the PT corps put in a dig and almost brought back his teammate and Jimmy taking the bunch with him.
Jimmy and Dave managed to stay away and contest the sprint for 1st with John in the gap the bunch chasing him down
Watty taking the bunch sprint for 4th with Wilson on the wheel taking 5th
A remarkable achievement with only 5 REME riders turning up on the day!

ACRRS RD5 MK Bowl πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆπŸ₯³

Hard day out completely out numbered by the Inf cycling team.
In the A league,
Watty and Jimmy working on chasing back breaks keeping Wilson safe in the wheels of the pack.
Watty winning sprint Prime no1 and second in sprint Prime no2
After some strong pulls from Jimmy into the last 5 or 6 laps Watty had to pull back in a solo Inf breakaway rider just keeping him in reach until the bell lap where by miracle everyone in the peloton found some legs and came flying past him πŸ˜… but it was all set for Wilson in the sprint!
Big effort to get back in and back though towards the front for Watty when just before the uphill he was blocked off as a rider pulled off out of the group and straight across the front of him leaving him to slam on the brakes as the sprint kicked off πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ left him grinding a big gear from the bottom of the hill however he was picking up speed as he got on top of the gear and flying up the long way on the outside in the wind past the sprinting peloton and somehow still taking second on the line πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
Wilson was in perfect position on the inside and started his sprint early taking everyone by surprise getting clear and only just holding off Watty to line!
Unbelievable performance to come away with a πŸ₯‡πŸ₯ˆ super happy that Will finished it off after the work Watty and Jimmy had done for him and for Watty to back him up with second was nothing short of a miracle!
Unfortunately for Mike in his first race back after being away he was spat out the back at around the 40min mark but with a good session in the legs hes rearing to go at Leeds!
In the B league,
Harry, Welly, Timmy and big Steve were all in the mix and collected the Corps some well earned points! πŸ‘
In the C league,
We had Dan, Ryan, Carl, Charlie and Adam all getting stuck in and representing the Corps πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄

All in all a good day out for REME Cycling πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸš΄πŸΌπŸ₯³
Onto the next one!
