It's Saturday 17th August and my first XC outing in the the UK for almost two months (yes, I've got plenty of Gumball volbiv footage to edit!) - the forecast was looking good for Worcester Beacon at the north end of the Malvern Hills, but as we all know, forecasts are not always right!

A Malverns Miracle! It's Saturday 17th August and my first XC outing in the the UK for almost two months (yes, I've got plenty of Gumball volbiv footage to edit!) - the forecast...

It's Wednesday 19th July and it's the start of this year's Gumball Transalps Rally, well, apart from the few who started the day before! The forecast for Saint André les Alpes was too windy for quite a few days, so we decided to start from Chamrousse, the ski resort overlooking Grenoble, this year.

We had the biggest gathering of pilots this year, something like twenty five, which meant that it was easy for people to meet up with others when they landed and camp together, and fly together the next day...

My Gumball was cut short after a couple of days (you'll see why), but as it coincided with worsening weather, I didn't miss out too much... I think about half the group ended up going home a few days early, the rest decamped to Ivrea in nothern Italy where they stayed at a friend's house and flew locally...

I was back again less than three weeks later, this time starting from Saint André - but you'll have to wait for part 2 for that!
